What do you know about baseball playoffs?

Now comes word of a tsunami of revenue from MLB’s television partners. Under terms of new contracts with its five TV partners, MLB will be presented with $12 billion in revenue over the eight years of those deals.
If you haven’t done the math, that $50 million per team per year beginning in 2014.
quote:
According to Forbes, the average Major League baseball team's value rose 16 percent to an all-time high of $605 million in 2012. Revenue for the 30 teams was an average of $212 million in 2011. The Dodgers were sold for more than $2 billion. The Astros were sold for more than $135 million more than what Forbes had estimated the team's estimated.
Even as the World Series ratings were down, ratings for many individual teams are up- and not just the big-market teams at the top of the standings. For instance, the lowly Royals, who finished 72-90, recorded their best ratings in history. And they're not the only ones. Baseball is a regional sport, with fans supporting their team for 162 games over the course of six months. That's where the money -- and the viewership -- comes in.
And if you want to step away from TV money, attendance at Major League Baseball games is at its highest level since 2008. A total of 74.86 million fans went to big league parks this season.

I really enjoy baseball, but I will admit it isn't a very "exciting" sport. On a spectrum of excitement, baseball and football are on opposite ends.
Football is very exciting and each game is an event. Baseball is more like grilling out with a friend after work. It isn't exciting, but it feels nice. I absolutely love a trip to the ballpark, and I like keeping up with the stats. Also, you can actually afford to go to games. If I could pick any pro sport for my city to have it would be baseball b/c of the number of games, the fun, yet relaxed atmosphere, and the fact that I can go to several games a year w/o breaking the bank.
I really don't think baseball is going anywhere anytime soon. Football is clearly the most popular sport in America, but it has some serious issues to address with player safety, parents not wanting their kids to play, etc.

Baseball's playoffs are really diluted.
Just when I thought this thread couldn't get any dumber.
Baseball is probably the least diluted. Basketball and hockey have 16 teams, football has 12 teams, and baseball has 10. And two of those 10 only play in one game in the playoffs.

Anyone else surprised baseball is still popular in the United States?
No. Step outside your circle. It's wildly popular all across the country.

Baseball was by far my favorite sport to play. I'm sorry your nephews suck at it.

My days of watching 50+ games a year died when the Yankees ruined baseball with their payrolls and TBS stopped televising Braves games.

You can go to hell. Baseball is the perfect sport. It teaches perseverance, character, how to handle failure, and teamwork.
It's the only sport where only succeeding 30% of the time is considered real good.
It's the hardest sport that's only getting harder.
It has the perfect mix of individualism and teamwork.
It's miles better than any sport out there!
'Merica!

Popular as compared to what?
The declining popularity of baseball is a very real thing.

I prefer sports that require agility, are constantly flowing, and that don't suck.

So you prefer sports where things don't actually happen?

A 30% shooting percentage in the NHL would be incredibly good.

Its healthier than the NFL.
OP FWIW, I think it is a poorly worded, but legitimate topic.
