No way. Just as popular if not more popular in the South.
WHAT?
MLB baseball is waaaaaaaaay more popular in the north than the south.

Fine. I don't care. But nothing in your response refutes my contention that baseball is the college football of the northeast. They are as fanatical about MLB as we are about the SEC. It's just different strokes.
I will point out if baseball is so popular in the south, why doesn't it have more teams? There's the Florida teams and the Braves. Who else? There isn't even a team in Tennessee or North Carolina. Hell, HOCKEY has more franchises in the southeast than baseball. So MLB can't be too popular down south or else it would have a few more teams.
Please don't see this as an invitation to talk about how die hard southerners are about baseball. I don't really care. I'm just pointing out that baseball is really popular in the northeast, especially, and that it is no danger of dying out, no matter what someone's nephews are playing.

Well, my experience says this isnt exactly true, but this thread is about baseball in general. The sport is way more popular in the south compared to the north. No on plays it up here.

They are, but again, this thread is about the health of the sport of baseball, not the MLB. There are tons of yankee and sox fans, but those kids dont play baseball. They play soccer and basketball.

I was going to add to this. Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, northern Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Kentucky, and Tennessee have zero MLB baseball teams. However, look at the college baseball attendance leaders each year and you will find many of these areas are at the top of that list.

I don't remember the last time I watched a baseball game. 1997 maybe?

Where I grew up (Marietta, Ga), youth baseball was king. It probably the second most popular sport behind football there, but shite man everyone I know loves baseball.

Glad to see you've taken your baseball flaming from the SECr to the MSB. You should do everyone a favor and just stop posting.

This is what I am talking about, and is way more indicative of the health of baseball in a region than the amount of MLB teams.

What does this have to do with anything?

Anyone here watch more than 50 full games in real time throughout the season?
I attend about 70 games a year. So yeah...

It will stay popular way longer than basketball. Ask any of your buddies/neighbors with kids if their boys play in a youth basketball league. Then ask them if they play youth baseball.
I guess that's why the nba finals have had higher ratings then the world series three years running.

As one puts it, "It's a bunch of standing around and waiting in line."
That's basically why I quit playing.

I watch at least 130-140 full braves games and I usually watch at least 30 minutes of all braves games, plus a ton of other games.

I watch 140+ games a year and when I'm not watching them I'm usually listening to them on the radio or keeping up with it on gameday.
