Avenging his loss to Federer...becoming a national hero? I feel like Tennis is much bigger in this Olympics, obviously because of Wimbledon.

Murray has an unreal amount amount of pressure to represent his country

I was pumped. I think he would have been crushed had he lost that one.

I thought it was pretty cool, especially after wimbledon. Murray beat the shite out of him today.

I never felt he had it in the bag until the match was over.
I could just see Federer coming all the way back.
What a relief it was for Murray. Federer was so gracious, smiling while Murray was still in grateful relief.
The Brits did very well in this Olympics, clearly carried to the finish line by the cheering fans, and I suppose, by familiar surrounds. So many gold medals.

I was really happy to see it. He's playing the best tennis of his career so I'm curious to see how he'll look later this month in the Open.

I'm glad he won too but it kinda sucks an Olympic gold is one thing Federer will likely never get

I hate him, love Fed so not at all

I think it's cool. An Brit hasn't won at Wimbledon in a long time...I guess this is a little bit of a consolation

Wimbledon final >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> men's olympic final.
I can't believe he was so giddy about it. Who gives a shite?

Say what you will, but it was a match on the same court against the same guy he lost to a month ago. That counts for something.

Really? So because he lost Wimbledon, he shouldn't be thrilled to win a gold medal in his home country at the most legendary tennis venue in the world?

I was rooting for Roger, but yeah, I've got nothing against Murray winning in his homeland. Good for him

Nice for Murray, but he already failed on a bigger stage at Wimbledon. Tennis is just one of those sports where the olympics aren't quite on the same level as the major events. There is no prize money, many of the players don't play or drop out at the first sign of injury, and the preliminary matches only go best of 3 sets. We will see how this helps Murray when it matters at Wimbledon, Roland-Garros, etc.

Happy for him after his emotional breakdown at Wimbledown
Posted on 8/5/12 at 8:49 pm to RonBurgundy
Not really. I like Fed and this was almost certainly his last shot at Olympic gold.
Plus, I don't care for Murray. He gets too emotional (not in a good way) on the court when things strt to go south for him.
