I just take issue with posters who are quick to point out how Russia can't make the Olympics safe

well Russia is in a civil war with a fanatical islamic segment of its country who have committed mass acts of terrorism...sochi is not far from the disputed area at the heart of the civil war. it's not that Russia can't make them safe; it's that milk was a bad choice

Putin will most likely deal with the terrorists the way that we SHOULD deal with them. Announce that anyone committing a terrorist act during these games will be eternally damned and we will kill the rest of your family, every friend you have, your pets, and cock roaches that dwell in your home. Once these cowards see this is the recourse for blowing themselves up, they will get a feeling for others in the world.

do you even chechan separatist, bro?

I love the USA, and I'm not a fan of Russia, but it's crazy to me we're knocking Russia abilities to stop terrorist. They're the ones who warned us about the Boston Bombers but we dropped the ball bigtime. This act alone should silence anyone putting the USA's counter-intelligence on a tall pedestal. Especially when comparing it to Russia these days.....

I sure hope nothing happens but I'm afraid it's only a matter of time before these nuts jobs do something at a major sporting event.

Vegas odds are 60-1 that Bob Costas is killed in Sochi.

google maps took me to just outside of Moscow. Is that correct?
Sochi is closer to Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt than it is to Moscow

For how corrupt Russia is, one thing they do pretty well is combat terrorism.

Yeah I do even with all the troops there for security. As a civilian there is no way in hell I would go to the games.

Our troops are just there in case Americans need to be evacuated.

I'm not terribly worried about the Olympics. It probably wasn't the wisest idea to host it there, but I don't think anything will happen.

The layout of the Olympic Village looks nice and the facilities look amazing, there is just one thing missing.....cold weather and snow???? I think Russia will do everything they can to protect the games. The Hockey Arena looks kinda small?

Are those apartments part of the Olympic Village? They remind me of some old Soviet Union apartment block.
