highway robbery for the raiders

In a vacuum, sure. But they were negotiating against themselves both in the trade and the contact. Forget that though, what are they trying to do? Win now? Then why trade Mack and Cooper for a bunch of picks that won’t be championship ready until way after AB’s prime?

I guess I just don’t understand their plan—their moves seem contradictory. Oh well, I expect it to be a super cluster-frick, but if it works out, that’s cool too. Should be entertaining no matter.

They didn't even have to give up a 1st rounder? Holy Moses.

Be ready to win first year in Vegas.

Getting AB when one of the biggest needs was WR (were going to use a 1st this year on a WR) allows them to now spend those 4 Top 35 picks on defense, and then still have two more first rounders for next years draft leading up to kickoff in Vegas.

NFL can change very very fast, Raiders just have to hit on their picks or at least most of them.

It's not unfathomable at all in my opinion for the Raiders to be a wildcard contender in 2020.

Agreed, but doesn’t Oakland/LV have to rebuild basically the whole team outside of a few players? They have gaping holes in player personnel, especially on defense. OL, WR and RB also have to be revamped as a whole.

Mary finally got what she wanted. The circus side-show freak will fit in well in Vega$.

for the price and the picks, it's a good deal. people should stop trying to compare this with mack's contract. mack's contract pays 7-8mil a year more.

the raiders offered mack a little over 20mil a year and he turned it down.

cooper acted like a bitch all the time and didn't wanna be in oakland.

Because they weren't winning with those two anyway, so they decided to get maximum assets for them. Which they did.

Trading for AB is to get a quality player with a 3rd/5th round pick. Headcase, sure. But he's still a top 5 wr and not even a ton of assets to gain him.

It's an overhaul but not completely rebuilt

Trade Amari Cooper for a first rd pick.
Trade 3rd/5th for AB.

On paper that is a huge win for Gruden.

But they are also reworking his contract to make him the highest paid WR.. so that’s a loss. Also a loss for the Saints

Sammy Watkins got 3/48 30M guaranteed last year.

AB gets 3/50 30M guaranteed.

I don't know how that's a loss.

quote:

The $54.1 million figure produces an annual average salary of $18,033,333, which also isn't an accident, given that the largest annual average salary for any wideout is Odell Beckham Jr.'s $18 million per year. Brown might have to hit incentives to get to that mark, but it appears that the Raiders added about $3.75 million per year to Brown's existing contract. In a league in which Sammy Watkins got three years and $48 million in free agency last year -- a mark that would translate to $51 million after a year of cap inflation -- is giving Brown $54 million over three years really unreasonable? I don't think so.

If anyone can draft and develop WRs, it’s Pittsburgh.

But a 3rd and 5th only? Man, they must’ve really wanted him out.

Seems simple to me.

Get a 1 for Cooper, give peanuts for Brown.

Brown >>>> Cooper.

Win for the Raiders.

He will also be 31 years old this summer while Amari Cooper will only be 25.
