I disagree, there are fixes if they would be willing to work together to find a solution. Unfortunately we have too many principals/coaches who only want whats best for them and/or an easy state title and trip to the Dome.

Combine that with a horrible Commissioner and you get they dysfunctional association we have now.

I personally like the plan where you add a multiplier for schools where more than a certain percentage of students are from outside of the attendance zone.

There's a fix. Stop being pussies. Have 4 classifications for all sports and be done with it. If you want to win, get better. Stop handing out "State Titles" to 10 team divisions. It's a JOKE.

actually - there will likely not be a quorum therefore what was voted on in Jan will stand..

if by some chance there is a quorum - any vote to change anything will be vociferously challenged.

It is extremely saddening to see what this has come to. As a young adult it amazes me how this can happen today, and then you realize Louisiana is what it is. Those on the "executive committee" should be ashamed, and when the privates take their ball and go home it will be awful.

Ask any high school athlete right now, they/we do not care just want to play the games we love. All the talk about what is fair and unfair is really sickening, what is truly unfair is how the "leaders" of education in Louisiana cannot work together, and do not realize what they are doing will further put the state back for years to come.

If you don't look out for your own interests, nobody else will. They are representing who they are supposed to represent.

Good god. How many of these votes have the LHSAA had in the past 12 months? Are they just chasing their tails?

I wish our politicians did this also.

Can't wait for the top schools to leave the LHSAA and form a badass league with great games between strong schools every week, and far less beat downs of inferior schools

I am pretty sure this acrimony predates Eddie Bonine's hiring.

I think there is a multi-part solution here.

1) Combine to, at most, 5 classes for all sports. 2A-5A play football, 1A does not. Get rid of the different setups for volleyball, soccer, etc.

2) Allow any school that wants to play up, to do so, but they must do so in all sports.

3) Remove all freshman eligibility restrictions. All freshmen are eligible to play immediately.

4) Have a hard ban on all transfers to schools within 50 miles that occur starting with the second day of freshman year. You transfer schools, you sit out for 12 months. No exceptions.

5) Private co-ed schools have a 2x multiplier. Private single-sex schools have a 3x multiplier. Public schools that are not open admission have a 1.5x multiplier.

6) Annual dues will increase by $1,000 per school per year, with all money used to pay for investigators and investigative costs of cheating.

7) If the cheating is intentional, the school is suspended immediately from all sports, until they repay 100 percent of the costs of the investigation, and agree to a 1-season postseason ban for the sports involved.

I was thinking that choupiquesushi, but there is simply too much at stake... private and catholic schools know this is the last chance for them, and split schools will show up to defend the split they fought so hard for...

Now it being in BR on a weekday, advantage select schools.

I was thinking the same thing. It's almost becoming comical.

problem with investigations is that the LHSAA only takes complaints from principals who despite their rhetoric rarely turn in their counterparts...

I believe the only 3 schools sanctioned for recruiting in the past 25 years - all turned THEMSELVES IN.......

and they need to make the rules apply to over zealous parents and those associated with a program accountable.... hard but that's really where the work gets done - by those recruiting... and for the millionth time systematic hold backs is way more effective than recruiting.

5 of the last 7 football POYs have been hold backs....

How is there an advantage for anyone considering it is the summer? Are public coaches that lazy that they won't show up.

FTR, if you were for the split that was voted for in January, you honestly just want the private schools out the league because that was the next step. This vote is to give keeping the league together one more shot. If this fails, I think all voting is done and privates finish out the 2017 season then take themselves out the equation. Hope the north LA publics enjoy bankrolling the south LA publics in that situation.

LINK

Sponrships being dropped, host sites saying they can't accommodate the increased amount of championships, etc. If you support this split, you basically just want to see the privates leave.

Hopefully the budget crisis and the threats of sponsors pulling out will have an effect on the vote.....and softball needs to get over themselves, quarterfinals at the state tourney should be cut out

I think everyone realizes that those sponsors would jump at the private school league if it formed. The publics are only damaging themselves for the sake of a few extra titles under the pretense that they don't have the means to compete with the privates. Go check out some of the threads on sportsline, tons of public school folks admitting that they have special ways to get kids into the school, so it isn't a private issue, it's a scapegoat issue.

This isnt much of a solution in fixing the football issue that is at the heart of the matter. Football should be separated from the equation of classification. We should move to 4 classes with a 5th championship class. Any team can play in the championship class, a committee or agreed upon arbitrator(s) will determine which class a school falls into if... The member school feels they should be moved or a certain number, TBD, petition for a school to be moved.

As long as a fair and honest appeals process is allowed.. For instance, is it truly an issue for an average athlete to transfer to a private or public if legitimate reasons exist. These transfers are more common than the elite athletes moving around.
