This was obviously a very freak thing to have happened. Only one NFL player has ever died on the field.
Exactly. It wasn’t even a hard hit compared to what we see in every single game. Could’ve happened in literally any contact sport

I wonder what Howard Cosell would be saying tonight.

How many thousands or millions of kids, teenagers, and college students played football this year? How many died? Everything carries risk, football is no different. But the game is fun to watch and play and it’s one of the last bastions of masculinity in this country
This is spot on
OP is off base

Yep. Try heading a 70 mph ball and tell me how you feel afterward.

No, they don't. But they're number 2.

Yeah football is the profession that is causing all the mental illness. Let’s ignore the countless other jobs that really make people prone to mental illness.

Bruh anything could have caused him to collapse there. Maybe he had a unkown condition, could have been a spontaneous stroke, maybe it was the covid vaccine. The tackle looked routine. Not like he got destroyed by a defender that caused that.

What about the soccer players who dropped dead of cardiac arrest?
Tragedies happen everywhere. In sports. In life. In workplace. We can’t put everyone in a safety bubble out of fear something might happen.

Whatever the cause, it appears to be some freak incident. I’ve been reading it’s likely commotio cordis, which is more likely to occur in baseball than football. It definitely didn’t appear to be a head injury.

I just don’t get it and I can’t support kids playing football ever. The sport needs to simmer away and people should focus on pushing education onto kids, not a violent sport.
Not that I don't believe in pushing education, but there were WAY more kids that died at school from mass shootings last year than from playing football. As you said, the truth is the truth. All aspects of life involve some level of risk no matter how small the risk.

This argument is ridiculous. Football dramatically increases the risk of injury, specifically head injuries due to grown as a men on HGH and prescription meds launching themselves into each other for years.
It’s not a risk, it’s a self induced trauma that’s only a matter of time before it affects the individuals

Never fails when a tragedy happens. "Shut it all down"
Wish we cared as much about what a segment of Americans are doing to this Country

Life is full of risks. Weigh them and live your life how you please.
People who are careful and scared and never take risks out of fear may die at 90 without ever actually living.
