you think rush limbaugh had to tell the rednecks in your area how to feel about black people? this 2-3% taking limbaugh's words seriously is just as stupid as bloggers and media types taking him seriously too. you hear what you want to hear

Yes. Jay-Z raps about watching sex and the city with Beyonce and everyone knows black males are a large core of that shows viewers

you just opened yourself up to a grab bag of people quoting JayZ lyrics and beating you over the head with them. Congrats
Post some lyrics showing him dividing people. Last I check people of all races and religions listens to Jay Z's music. He's not going platinum because of all the african americans buying his music. Blacks aren't making these rappers rich. Their cd sales are high in areas where there's few blacks. I've NEVER heard of a white person calling Jay Z racist or say he divides people.
The past few concerts they showed him performing in NYC he had blacks, whites, hispanics, asians in the crowd cheering for him.

I already quoted his my president is black lyric.
Of the top of my head here is a good one. Does the NBA not care about women? Is it okay to degrade women?

thug em, love em,
f*** em, leave em,

take em out the hood
keep em lookin good

Great post!! All Rush really wants is for everyone to be able to work for and achieve the american dream....everyone! And of course he wants us to all be safe from terrorism and acts of foreign aggression, as well as being able to achieve, invent and create jobs to stimulate the economy without having big government and organized labor screw everything up that they touch....like Fannie, Freddie, public education, medicare, social security, now banks and car manufacturers and soon when we can have medical care and when we can't. Rush is a great sports fan, worked for the KC Royals back in the day, loves Missouri, is willing to put his money into a struggling franchise with a proud history, etc. Anyone who would even bat an eye at him becoming a minority owner, or for that matter a majority owner, of a pro football team is a myopic dunce!!

Unfortunately, many on both the right and the left take him seriously when he's joking around.
Equally unfortunately, he knows that and profits from it while disregarding the consequences. That's very irresponsible on his part, IMO.

Now show me some women having problems with his lyrics. Ask beyonce' (sp) how Jay Z treats her and respect her. Do the white NBA players have a problem with Jay Z saying those things, what about cheerleaders? If NFL players are coming out saying they don't want to play for Rush then something is wrong. Jesse, AL, etc aren't telling those players how to feel. You have athletes speaking out against Rush.

How does it appear they did? By simply hiring him? Doubtful or you don't know the meaning of carte blanche
you are wanting to believe they got rush limbaugh to agree to being on their show with pre-conditions outside of the FCC guidelines. I am telling you that he wouldn't have agreed to do the show if they had made that part of the deal. They hired him knowing who he was and what his act is. He was on the show for 4 weeks and the McNabb show was his fourth edition of "Rush Challenge" on ESPN Sunday Countdown.
No one on the set made a big deal about what he said until McNabb said something about it later and then got the ball rolling. Limbaugh wasn't cut off, he wasn't fired on the spot, he wasn't anything. Michael Irvin and Tom Jackson didn't say shite about the black QB aspect after Limbaugh was finished. They challenged his assertion that McNabb wasn't as good as the media portrayed him

classic
and FTR Stephen A Smith said it best when he said most black NFL players don't know who Rush Limbaugh is and if they did know they wouldn't care if the Jets offered them $10mm and the Limbaugh owned Rams offered them $20mm.

Wasn't the opinion of this board that S.A.S. hates white people?
Posted on 10/13/09 at 12:22 pm to Sophandros
Sophandros the funny thing about the Rush B.S. is that we have people always calling Stephan A Smith a racist and he's one of the few blacks in the media that's not against Rush owning a NFL team. I always said how in the hell is Stephan A Smith a damn racist.lol.

i don't speak for the board
I think SAS just hates being poor so he says things to get him noticed and paid
Posted on 10/13/09 at 12:26 pm to bayou2003
I've never thought SAS was a racist. I just think he is an annoying loud mouth know it all with no concept of an inside voice.
I used to catch his show every now and then and he seemed different on his show than on his Sportscenter spots.

The SAS quote above illustrates one of the biggest problems in pro sports today (IMO, of course). That is, athletes don't have principle anymore. Sure, some will stand up, but by and large, we don't have a Roberto Clemente or Mohammed Ali or other guys who actually stand for something; heck, we don't want to hear about athletes politics most of the time--or at least people say that on message boards.
But that's another discussion altogether...

I even said in another post when someone brought up the story, money talks. I'm not against Rush owning a team, I don't care for the Rams. If they left Missouri I'd be happy.
But the problem I have with this board is the fact you have people ALWAYS saying Jamil Hill, Stephan A Smith, Joe Morgan, other blacks on ESPN are racist but they are QUICK to say Rush is not racist.
Someone had the damn nerves to say Jason Whitlock is a racist, wtf. Now that's funny.
Posted on 10/13/09 at 12:28 pm to Sophandros
I think you have it right Soph. Regardless of Rush's politics, he should be afforded the opportunity to bid for the team without prejudices.
Posted on 10/13/09 at 12:29 pm to alajones
yeah. I just think that this world has gone nuts when I'm defending Rush Limbaugh...

This is all a waste of time.
Rush is never gonna own an NFL team and he knows it. He's LOVING this attention. Thats what he's after.
Jim Irsay the Colts owner says at the owners meetings that he'd never vote for Rush. He's he doesnt even have to ask the other owners, Rush wouldnt get the votes.
