Retif Oil/New Orleans leads 4-0 through the top of the 9th.

New Jersey coming up in bottom of ninth. Jesuit is 3 outs away from winning its 3rd legion national championship.

Emerson Gibbs (Tulane commit) is in line for a complete game shutout, having only allowed 2 base runners tonight. He's pitched 19 innings in the tournament—and 18 of them have been shutout innings.

As a Jesuit alum who played baseball there this is very impressive and ranks them among the greatest teams there. Other teams have been to the world series, last time was when I was a student, and that team was absolutely stacked and didn't win.
And the team from NJ had what, 5 losses all year and two of those were against Retif

Gibbs actually threw 38 innings in the tourney and was the MVP. His line is below

ERA W-L IP H R ER BB K

Emerson Gibbs, LA 1.66 4-0 38.0 18 7 7 2 26

Congrats to jesuit!

Anybody have any idea on how many innings he threw this year? Including prep and legion?

I played for Latino from 2000-2004, we won state for legion back then as Fairmont, but I've never seen him throw a pitcher so much.

I'm not sure of the yearly amount but he was throwing at least 1 complete game a week plus other appearances.....and don't even mention that Rummel game. Latino is now the Butcher on Banks St. in my book. If Gibbs doesn't need arm surgery in the next year or two I will be shocked.
