According to CBS' Jason La Canfora, the 49ers have "expressed to others" that an Alex Smith trade is "effectively complete."
Any potential deal cannot be finalized until the new league year begins on March 12. La Canfora does not know the acquiring team, but lists the Chiefs and Jaguars as "two teams that make sense." Both NFL.com and Yahoo Sports have reported in the past three days that the Chiefs were Smith's most dogged pursuer.
I wonder who has acquired him. I'm guessing the Chiefs.

They need a QB but so do the Jets

Cardinals, Chiefs, Jets, Jaguars, Raiders, Eagles, Browns, and Bills would all like to be better at QB but I have no idea which of those might covet Alex Smith

hmm i wonder if this mean Nick Foles might be going to arizona if Smith goes to KC

So if it's chiefs I wonder where Geno will go.

Hmm deal is "complete" but isn't official for 2-3 weeks?
This sounds more like someone in SF trying to get a team to increase their offer

It's either the chiefs or jags. Thank god it's not the Browns

David Caldwell sent a text to a reporter saying that it wasn't the Jaguars.

Would the Chiefs trade the #1 pick for him?

If Alex Smith is the answer, I don't want to know the question.

To have a deal finalized at this point tells me we're getting more than we deserve for a QB that hasn't proven he can play at a high level without everything being perfect for him.

Is this a serious question?

I think he'll be a nice pick up for the Chiefs. They should franchise/extend Albert, trade down with a team that covets Joekel/Geno, and go after someone like Lotulelie or Patterson.

Didn't Arizona already try this with an over hyped Philly backup bum?

Let me rephrase..Would the Chiefs be that blockheaded to trade the #1 pick for him?
Posted on 2/24/13 at 8:44 pm to ptra
What? No.
3rd Round pick most likely.
