Alex Smith is probably gonna take a 2nd

Draft Jockel first have him and Albert as your tackles to protect Smith, and resign Bowe.

Yeah, there's no way that he goes for a 3rd. It's got to be a 2nd or comparable.

Let me rephrase..Would the Chiefs be that blockheaded to trade the #1 pick for him?
they would be completely senile to do so

no way i'd pay a 2nd for alex smith. hes limited, but can be effective with the right system/coaching/weapons. at the start of the '13 season, he'll be a 29 y/o, 9 year pro, with 2 years left on his deal. youll either have to extend him or risk wasting a high pick on a 2 year rental

bottom line, i'd rather take a shot on a barkley at the top of rd 2 then use a stop gap guy like smith. barkley might flame out, but its not like alex freaking smith is taking anyone to the promised land, either. give me the guy who might be great over a bland game manager.

i miiiiight trade for smith for a 4th. but 2nd or 3rd? crazy!

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Browns are not the team on the verge of acquiring Alex Smith.
The Jaguars have ruled themselves out. The Browns aren't the team, either, and the Chiefs have yet to dispute their association with CBS' report. All signs continue to point to Alex Smith becoming Andy Reid's next quarterback.

Charles, Moeki, Bowe, and Baldwin isn't a bad group

If you take Joeckel 1st and deal a second for Alex Smith, then it is your best shot of not being an absolute dumpster fire next year.

You'd have a good LT of the future. A QB that can actually play the position even though he isn't amazing. They have plenty of weapons on offense. You'll also have a real coach.
