I’m not all that confident in the Cards to put it away tbh. They’re still streaky and could give MIL a lifeline.

I’ve seen him hit several at Stanky Field.

Atlanta is only a 5 hour drive from where we used to live in the florida panhandle. I saw him play his rookie season at Turner field, hit 2 in a loss. Then in '04 and him and Larry Walker went deep in a win.

Saw him play at PNC at some point, a ballpark he historically rakes at but he didn't do anything that game.

ETA I just looked up the game logs for 2001, looks like he only hit 1 that game. So have only seen 2.

Ive appreciated Pujols over the years but have never really been a fan. That’s changed as of late.

This is the biggest story of the second half IMO.

He’s easily one of the most likeable guys in the last 20-30 years.

Will he or won’t he. I think most baseball fans want him to get into that ultra-exclusive fraternity.

I don’t remember where I saw someone say this, but someone pointed out 699 would be cooler in the long run.

700 is the nice round number, but 699 has you in the same spot historically, and it makes you the gatekeeper for anyone trying to reach 700. You have to pass Pujols. I want to see 700, but it’s an interesting thought.

That’s dumb.

A-Rod quit at 496. He didn't care about that 700 on roids.

If the Cards had a series left in Minute Maid Park, he'd hit 700 for sure.

not sure if you could come up with a dumber thought.

If he does get to 700, he joins Hank Aaron as the only players to get 700 homers and 3000 hits.

Completely disagree. He would forever think about the fact he was 1 off 700

Wasn’t my thought. I didn’t come up with it. I literally said I want to see 700.

Saw it somewhere and it was interesting cause for all time he would be the person basically guarding the 700 club. Have to pass him to enter.

Wouldn’t he be the only person with Aaron at 699 and 3000?

Gatekeeper?

Yes. Like in mma when a fighter is a gatekeeper of a division, meaning you have to get by this person to reach the next level.

Obviously 700 is the nice round number everyone wants to see. 699 would forever make him the last step to 700. That’s cool in its own right.
