I bet people point and laugh at you everywhere you go. There's no way someone can be this colossally stupid and survived as long as you have. It really boggles the mind.

It’s not an accident they are doing this during an election year and since it has brought the ratings down so much the dems will owe them in the future. ESPN has taken a worse hit though and they won’t be there in the future to offer these large contracts. Sports are about to change drastically in how we actually view them.

No one is saying this, although this a great PR lie the players may make themselves believe when they realize the $ the league is hemorrhaging

Unless one of my kids or their kids make it to the NBA, which is highly unlikely, it will be off my TV forever. The NBA fricked up royally when they let the players take over.

Ehh, some more than others. NHL dabbled in it the first night then mostly dropped it. Even the PGA dabbled a little bit up front then mostly dropped it. The NFL and MLB went a bit further. The NBA has been non-stop from what I've read here because I'm not going to bother watching that.

Raising awareness us one thing, brow beating into submission is another.

All of the ratings but golf are terrible though

Next season, I hope the fans in the stands greatly diminish, I hope TV ratings plummet even further, and I hope the owners have no other choice but to pay the players substantially less due to a lack of revenue.

The players can learn a little about the supply and demand model.

Thing is, the dumb shits could have avoided all of this, but they are so out of touch with reality that they don't know how to behave normal.

When you continually spew a false narrative, people can only choke it down for so long before they say "you know what, frick off."

It's not just that they keep harping on a completely false narrative about police brutality and systemic racism. That alone should dissolve any fan support they have.
But these morons had already spent any goodwill capital they had with their fanbase by siding with China over their home country. Think about that. They openly and brazenly chose the most evil and repressive government in the history of the world over the country that has afforded them the opportunity to make tens of millions of dollars for playing a game and the right to express their mouth-breathing opinions without being lined up against a wall and shot.

Done with the NBA. Just move all the teams to LA and New York. They'll enjoy that anyways.

So you think the historically low Neilson ratings for the finals is fabricated?

Do you understand how television sponsorship pricing works?

Is that why they are projecting cap decreases?

I still watch here and there, but I am glad ratings are down. The NBA (and all sports really) seems like it can use a lesson in supply and demand. In theory, TV numbers should be booming, but they are not because the product isn't as appealing as it once was. The problem is that the arrogant NBA believes that people want to watch regardless of anything else. But what they fail to understand is that if your "product" offends the majority of your viewers and customer base, then they won't want it as much as they once did. And that is what is happening.

People have said all along that they just want to watch basketball, and not be beaten over the head with social issues. And there's nothing wrong with that. Just like there's nothing wrong with the NBA taking stands on SJ issues either...they just have to understand that people will tune out because of it. In all honesty, during the playoffs I've noticed how little I actually notice the "BLM" plastered across midcourt. Most of the time I don't even see it or even care that it is there anyway. But when I tune in and they are harping on issues that a lot of people don't believe are really issues (based on facts and statistics), or talking about shite that has nothing to do with basketball, or bashing me over the head telling me how shitty of a person I am for things out of my control, I tune in less. I know people in here, like YStar and his ilk, seem to think that people tuning out doesn't affect anything. But clearly that is wrong based on the ratings. And most of the time, all the average joe people can do it tune out or not purchase NBA merchandise. And eventually that adds up to lost revenues, and huge chunks of it apparently.

I have no problem with the NBA doing what it did. But they also can't have a problem lying in the bed they made themselves either. It's a two-way street.
