Adam Silver sat down for an interview with Rachel Nichols on NBA Countdown earlier this week, and indicated that the social justice messaging that you see on the courts and the backs of players’ jerseys will be “largely left off the floor” next season:

quote:

Rachel Nichols:
The NBA has certainly been the most visible billion-dollar organization championing social justice and civil rights. As you noted in your press conference the other day, though, that has not been universally popular. How committed are you to being that going forward?

Adam Silver:
We’re completely committed to standing for social justice and racial equality and that’s been the case going back decades. It’s part of the DNA of this league. How it gets manifested is something we’re gonna have to sit down with the players and discuss for next season. I would say, in terms of the messages you see on the court and our jerseys, this was an extraordinary moment in time when we began these discussions with the players and what we all lived through this summer. My sense is there’ll be somewhat a return to normalcy, that those messages will largely be left to be delivered off the floor.

And I understand those people who are saying ‘I’m on your side, but I want to watch a basketball game.’

Makes sense, seeing the slogans on the back of jerseys pretty much ended racism, so they can now scale back

"...How it gets manifested is something we’re gonna have to sit down with the players and discuss for next season..."

That's going to go smoothly.

I think the people boycotting the NBA cause they are so offended by the messages for social justice are not really that big of the NBA audience like they think they are. But keep taking credit it makes you feel better pudding.

It is largely a shite product but I used to watch a lot of games. Now that they feel the need to lecture me and sponsor a Marxist regime I don’t. It’s pretty simple

Just read them this-

quote:

The NBA most recently projected a salary cap of $115 million and $139 million luxury tax for the 20-21 season. According to one team's front office, the cap could decline by as much as $25 million to $30 million.

The initial cap projections were based on an expected $8 billion in basketball-related income (BRI), which is now expected to decrease by at least $1 billion and potentially as much as $2 billion.

Using the standard salary-cap formula with $6 billion in BRI would have massive implications throughout the league, with the salary cap and tax line for 2020-21 plummeting to $95 million and $115 million, respectively.
