How much damage has Steve Kerr and Greg Popovich done to the NBA and it's likeability?
There's no leadership with Adam Silver.
David Stern told all the players, you're going to show up in a suit and tie, play like you care and respect your fanbase and this Country.
But with all the best players being foreign, the NBA has just become a soccer global mess....that the average American is bewildered by....and the competition aspect of this sport is a joke and....does anyone still gamble on the NBA? Because it's the least sport that's on the up and up. Might as well gamble on the Washington Generals beating the Harlem Globetrotters.... Maybe Gilligan will nail some 3s.

Game 26 on the 82 game schedule? Who gives af
shite I used to. Back in the early 2000s when you had the Lakers, Spurs, Kings, Blazers, Mavs fighting for the West every regular season game felt like it mattered. Those races were tight and a couple regular season games could’ve been the difference between playing at home for a game 7 or on the road.
That’s why Shaq got so much shite at the time for coming into the season out of shape.
Today’s stars have made it abundantly clear that the regular season doesn’t matter and they’re just trying to make it to the playoffs. And with the extra playoffs spots making it to the playoffs is even easier.

Ive seen jokic out there busting his arse while his teammates are injuredm. The other day they had to start Westbrook and jokic put up 56 and 48 pts back to back games while playing the entire 2H basically and the entire 3rd quarter

You also have a lot more choices of things to bet on. Player points, rebounds, assists are all variables that are matchup based and there are enough late lineup changes that Vegas does get beaten more frequently than trying to beat them on rush yards or receiving yards.
While I agree that gambling on the NBA is great in theory (and I still partake), the most frustrating thing is the frequency in which players just sit out the entire 4th quarter due to blowouts. With so many games, 'injury management', and lopsided matchups, it's really tough to bet a line based on 4 quarters of play when guys are only on the court for 3.

Yeah you always gotta factor in the odds of a blowout. It's nice when you have the under though.

and the players are ridiculously overpaid.
This ignorance will literally never make me not chuckle

NBA players, as they have for 40 years, are paid pursuant to a CBA negotiated between the league and NBAPA. I believe all of them base NBA player salary on league revenue (it's typically around half).

And with the extra playoffs spots
The NBA had fewer than 8 playoff spots per conference in the early 2000s?

They've got 12 years to work on it

You can be the 10 seed and make the play in. Only 5 teams in each conference miss the playoffs completely.

Time to make basketball a physical sport again

And? You said "playoff spots"
The play-in isn't a spot in the playoffs.

Players have too much say in operations.
Owners need to claw back, otherwise all the talent usually ends up in LA, NY, or Miami Markets.

????
Politics aside, the Warriors and Spurs have been the two best things about the NBA since Kobe

I think he's referencing 3 pointers (Kerr) and load management (Pop)

Or they're playing in a contract year thus need to manage their bodies aka sit out and play at 65% effort before signing with NY/LA.

Hell no it isn't.

You must be betting the wrong stuff. Nba matchups are so much easier to take advantage of due to the 1 on 1 nature of the game

The playoffs are fun, but the players don't give a shite about the regular season half the time. You have no idea if a motivated team/player is going to show up or not. The product is terrible. Then they'll just sit a good player "for rest" at game time.
And it isn't just about winning when betting if it's not fun to watch. The product is terrible during the regular season. I have a buddy that swears betting WNBA is the easiest way to win, but I'm not doing that because I don't want to pay attention to it

Neither does Vegas. It's always fun to bet a rebounding under and then see a team down 30 going to the 4th quarter and know ur bet is already a lock.

We differ here. I'd rather my bet be over with by halftime
