There have been several teams in different sports to claim this title....but when you look back at the roster this dream team had at the time? Well, let's just say it was pretty legendary.

I’m not saying they weren’t, but some members were past their prime, like Bird and Magic. I think the international game improved a lot in the following years too.

and Christian Laettner

Was the best in my mind without question. Team on a mission. No acting like primadonnas. Just having fun on and off the court and destroying everybody in their path. A team of superstars but not a single one acting like a superstar. Egos left in the states.

A complete joy to watch every game.

truly astounding to consider the fact that ten of the twelve Dream Team members were named among the top-50 greatest players of all time.

not only did they win their games in Barcelona by an average of ~45 pts, they didn’t call a single timeout. not one…even for garbage time subs lmao

Charles Barkley was in his absolute prime summer of 92.

He wrecked shite and talked shite haha. It was so fun.

The one time they played against each other, Laettner absolutely worked shaq. His footwork was just that good. Pretty good foreshadowing of how The Dream would do him a few years later.

Laettner gets shite on a lot but that guy was an absolute stud in college.

Shaq and Hakeem both worked each other those finals. Shaq was dominant offensively, too, against the supposed best post defender of that era.

A good offensive player always has the advantage in basketball.

I don't get why people get so bothered by Laettner getting on over Shaq. He was the best player in college at the time, which is what USA Basketball wanted. It's not like if Shaq were on the team, he would have done anything considering every player on that team was an all time NBA player at the time the team was assembled. Hell Laettner was the best NCAA player, and he is a sidenote on this team.

I’d still go Dream team, but the 2002 Brazil World Cup championship team was unreal. A handful of players that are in the conversation for best player ever at their positions. The Dream Team’s bench is all-time greats too tho

The 98 squad was more talented, they just choked against France. And they were also missing Romario. They were incredible when healthy.
