I still just dont have the balls to have a 1 or 2 seed lose in the first round of a bracket that I’m putting money on.

That year I had in my bracket of a 16 seed beating a 1 seed. Too bad I picked the wrong upset.

They just didn’t defeat us, it’s was an arse whooping. The game was over with 15 minutes left in the second half.

Wasn’t UVA the number 1 overall seed too?

Absolutely incredible when you think about it

That makes it all the more amazing that this finally happened. Legit from worst to first.

I still remember my thought process watching that entire game

1st half: "UMBC is putting up a cute effort, just waiting for the inevitable UVA run to put them away"

Halftime: "OK it's tied, UVA's going to come out and win the 2nd half, it's been a valiant effort"

2nd half, 1st 10 minutes: "Damn, UMBC is actually pulling away, but there's still time for UVA to make a comeback, and with the talent disparity I wouldn't be surprised if they actually do"

Rest of the 2nd half: "Holy shite, this is actually going to happen!"

Wow. I was in pre-k when that happened. I remember eating applesauce at Applebee's.

Yeah, Hunter was out, and he was UVA’s most indispensable player, but there was no excuse to lose to that trash team.

The next year made up for it. UVA - Purdue in the Elite 8 was the best college basketball game I’ve ever seen.

Here’s the question: if it is REQUIRED for your team to lose to a 16 only to win the championship the next year, would you sign a deal?

I would. It’s the ultimate rags to riches story. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
