I don't think Sonny is playing crazy while running a mafia empire but I do think he realizes the impact his actions had on amateur athletics and is seeking to redeem himself

Just finished Benji. Really good. In my top 5 probably.
I do have to say, and I may be wrong, but I believe the guy's story that shot him. With that said it in no way excuses the fact he brought a gun to confront a $10 confrontation or pulling it out and using it in that situation. Also, think it's crazy he only served 19 years, but I do believe most of what he said.

Need to have a 30 for 30 on LSU how we were buried to nothing from 89-94 and then along came an Italian man named Gerry Dinardo that brought us from the grave and eventually LSU became arguably the best team of the 2000's with 2 National championships, 3 SEC Titles, 4 Sugar Bowl's.

I definitely enjoyed the nostalgic look back.
That pretty much explains why I think its terrible. It's just fan service. Most of these docs are fairly illuminating and show their subjects as people, warts and all (Once Brothers and Into the Wind are the best examples). Miami is just 40 year olds remembering how great they were when they were kids. What a waste of my time. I don't want to watch your fan video.
The only doc more self-masturbatory was the Marion Jones doc.

Winning TIme was bad too.
The Marinovich Project was one that I really enjoyed (along with Once Brothers and The Two Escobars).

Believe most of what he said?
He basically said Benji started it and kept "punking" him and lunged at him so he shot.
At least the shooter seems "rehabilitated" unlike his buddy, but I doubt some of his version of events although it does seem Benji had a short fuse at the time.
I doubt the part of Benji coming at him after seeing the gun specifically. I call BS on that one.
And I doubt how it started. Maybe a bump, but a hard push for no reason? Unlikely.

I doubt that. I've never been a big fan of Reggie, but him telling Spike to STFU is something I will always be thankful for.

Gucci Row about UNLV in mid 80's until 91 would be good also. Sonny Vaccaro would be exposed as the sleaze he is though.
HBO made a UNLV doc las year it should be on HBO Go

it was weird. i was watching and everything was cool and then that guy spoke, and i kinda believed him. it was cool how the guys who made the documentary gave him a chance to speak and didnt ridicule him or make him out to be some frick. they let him say his side and just kinda gave both sides. i liked that.
what actually happened was probably a mix between both sides of the story (benji was probably kinda being a douche, but then the killer went way over the line and totally fricked up), but i liked how they let him talk. dunno why, but it felt ok.

a teenage thug from the hood who finally gets his hands on a pistol, will walk around feeling invincible. That guy wasn't scared of someone who was 6'8", or 8'8".

The guy said he was going to settle a beef with Benji about $10 and was bringing his gun with him. He OBVIOUSLY has malicious intent on going to the school with a gun to confront Benji.
I think he is changing his story to make himself feel better.
Here is the bottom line:
- he went to the school with a gun to confront Benji
- confrontation happened
- Benji was shot and killed
Whatever story the POS killer tells is BS. F* that dude and he should have gotten the death penalty.
Posted on 10/23/12 at 10:31 pm to MikeD
He wasn't going to confront Benji.
Posted on 10/23/12 at 10:35 pm to MikeD
No man, you have it All wrong. He wa going to the school to confront someone else but the issue had been resolved by the time he got there. That is why he was carrying the gun

i was reading something when this part of the story came up, but i thought i heard that the $10 beef was with someone other than Benji.
Benji got involved when he pushed Billy Moore during the argument with his girl.

Great one tonight.
Glad his mom got paid. We are a sue happy society, but she deserved that money.
Wish we got the girlfriends side, but she probably doesn't want to dredge up that horrible shite.
I was gonna say that the dude that didn't do the shooting got screwed over....seemed like he was just there, but looks like he is trash or maybe jail made him that way.
