quote:Probably so, but this year we had Pitkin....who would give us a run for our money or beat us. They are a really good club, it was cancelled. But maybe only give a fractional amount of the wins of the opponent. You can really make up a bunch of points by scheduling if you want as it stands now.
I do think there should be a disincentive for schools to schedule opponents lower than two classes beneath them.

From the outside looking in I felt like Barbes Coach is a huge distraction for the team with his antics through the games.
I even saw the 3b coach, who think is his son, a couple times pointing to the dugout for him to get out of what was going on.
Am I wrong with that?
IMO, I doubt it is much of a distraction as they are probably used to it. And you are probably not wrong. His 3rd base coach is his oldest son, Garin, and they have been known to not always see eye to eye, even during games.

you think.... :rotflmao:
both are great people, different styles and personalities but they really are really really good people.

Good God...wasn't questioning the hardware....
Was saying numerous times glenn would walk in the middle of a discussion and almost break it up with his son pointing numerous times to get back to the dugout. Seemed like the son was frustrated with him alot.
There was one time he was almost in the batters box with his player. Just seems like a show for him. I get that hes probably a good guy but as a player I would think this would get old.

It’s become pretty clear over the years 777 serves on the Barbe baseball staff in some capacity. Always goes out of his way to mention he wasn’t there, or he has kids coming up, or whatever. The level of depth he knows is that of someone personally involved with the program. Couple that with the bat signal going off anytime Barbe is mentioned, it’s quite obvious. It’s not a big deal to me, he does provide some good insight to the board on the SWLA middle school pipeline.

I know some well and have at least met all of them at some point and this would be very surprising to me.

Interesting. In my observations of their staff, it would be pretty par for the course.

haha it would surprise you because im not on the staff or with the school at all, i have no kids there and my kids go to other schools in the area and i didnt even go there. I know more about other programs in the area than i do theirs. there are people that know me in real life on here, i promise in not on Barbes staff. never have been, never will be.

This has definitely turned into a travel ball parent thread.

Very unrealistic I’m pretty. Sure pbs and a couple others won state w losing records

Dunham was .500 entering the playoffs. They're in the semifinals. Didn't have a stellar record last year either and made the semis.
Delcambre had a losing record and just beat DeQuincy to make the quarterfinals.
ED White was around .500 last year and made the finals in D2 select.

They usually play a tough schedule and go into the playoffs better for it. They seem to be a really well coached team. I believe the head coach came over from Evangel a couple of years ago.

Glenn is ADD to the max, add in a helping of baseball superstition and it’s a receipt for a baseball genus. Rayca is a better coach and Glenn will admit that.
I haven’t been around the program since Laura but he was always fair to his kids.

but the constant calls of cheating get old AF really quickly. Every one of these moves have been legit to the point of LHSAA going to the houses and making sure they live there.
Welcome to the life of a John Curtis alum and parent. If they aren't accusing of cheating, you must not be winning. Suck it up and quit crying, I've heard it for 40+ years now.

How are we feeling about the Catholic series?
Posted on 5/4/26 at 6:28 pm to Mr Clean
The boys look and feel as confident as ever. Watching the bats come alive against Jesuit was a great sign, hopefully they didn't blow their wad already.
As a parent who's watched us get eliminated by Catholic 4 years in a row, definitely nervous. This feels like it's our time though. Catholic seems down a smidge from the last two years and we have our biggest and most experienced senior class since my senior year in 97.
Hopefully umpiring is consistent. I know, I know, it's always the umps, but game 2 last year had two very clear calls go Catholics way that led to huge momentum shifts. If our pitching can come out hot, we definitely can sweep this series. More than likely 3 games, but we have 4 quality starters. Bullpen is a little more shallow with a couple injuries, but we're deep enough to go 3 games.
I'm pumped and can't wait. It's my son's senior year and I'm not ready for to end just yet.

Would like to see it.
