The cringe videos, signs, etc at Barbe don't seem to carry the intimidation factor they were designed for. That 5A title is for anybody's taking now, should be interesting.
they dont do it for intimidation, they do it to promote the program and to show they are proud of the program and its history considering the coaching staff built the program from nothing. and they should be proud of what they built

Maybe I was guilty of buying into their showcase and social media PG/PBR hype their top guys like to push, did not see this one coming. Well, they will have more time to work on that now. Congrats to Dutchtown on a big series win, bouncing back from a beat down in game 2 on the road, hard to do, especially at Barbe.
no i think you misunderstood how good dutchtown and zacahry and even mandeville/hahnville where on that side of the bracket. They all have big time recruits too. you also under estimated how much of a difference there is between seniors and freshman. Barbe played 3 or 4 freshman every game in the series. that makes a big difference and its why i said to be cautious with those post you were making. not having heath hurt too
i admit I did think barbe would end up winning it all but i thought it was going to be very very tough. I thought all season dutchtown was good and thought they would be a top 4 seed before the last 2 weeks of the season
I think many posters on here too dont understand that at the big 5a schools the talent level is all really really good. And with the spread of info many programs have very good off season programs now, they watch video, they scout for tendencies etc.

The hype was real. They had lost 1 game all year, and it wasn't to a team in LA. I think those familiar with the team knew they were young, and had some issues with consistency on offense though. I'm surprised that they lost but I also understand how hard it is to stay hot all season.

The scouting level nowadays is incredible and more in depth that the casual observer can even comprehend - (in tge big 7 sports) - even on officials.
Years ago watching grainy tape or having knowledgeable people go actually watch opponents play(one year I watched the same football team so many times people thought I had a kid on team). Film has always had its limitations as it didn’t show dead ball stuff or between plays and now with dang near every game having a quality live stream it’s light years easier.
I still like being in person so you can pin point very subtle stuff.

this!! 100% this!! They had run ruled dutchtown during regular season and beat zachary and beat Sam Houston and only loss had come against another big time program on a HR losing 2-1. they had won 34 straight....while beating teams from Florida & texas and everyone in LA
but its very very hard to stay hot every week and not have a bad 1-2 games against good arms and other very talented teams. especially senior laden teams that have lots of experience with playing win the pressure is high.
Going forward, I do expect them to put more focus on developing more depth during regular season which could cost them and

Haven’t seen it mentioned in this thread since it was announced but Teurlings won’t be renewing Badeaux’s contract after the season.
Back to back state titles and right back in contention this year after a rough start.
Very similar to when they “didn’t renew” (ran off) Mike Thibodeaux after winning 5 in his last 9 seasons.

It’s all a part of the game bro. Barbe talks more shite and has more ridiculous antics than anyone. Their parents, coaches, supporters, players, etc. So when you guys get beat, you’re gonna get the same stuff thrown back at you. That’s just how it is. And when you’re at the top of the mountain, everyone is gonna throw rocks at you when they can. It’s just how it is. Don’t get so upset over this lol.

i dont see a lot of the antics i guess then but i do think alot of the dugout stuff is just dumb AF. but i guess its kids being kids.
i dont see much shite talking online from true barbe guys.

Has Dutchtown taken over the national #4 ranking now?
As for SMHS coach, glad they found their guy.

I think 5A Non-select is how the baseball playoffs should be. All 24 teams are highly competitive and on any given day can beat each other. That’s how it should be. The non-select lower seeds takes a big step back in competition and the Select side in all divisions is extremely top heavy with many teams in the playoffs that shouldn’t even be there. If your team is in 5A non-select, they better come with their A game every series bc it’s a dog fight. One thing I’d like to see changed is to stop having the finals in Sulphur. No offense to anyone that lives there but I’m sorry there are better destinations to hold the finals. Just my opinion

Well? Went with interim coach or hired someone from outside?

Hired a guy not even involved in baseball this year..Not from the area either…On par for SMHS though.

Host city?
i think once youngsville finishes the HS fields & stadium they host it. its a more centralized location, will be better facilities and better overall location.

You could argue that some that fall in 25-32 are just as good as those that get in as lower seeds. Some teams win 20 games and still don’t get in.
Yet some in lower classes get in with a record 10 games below .500.
D1 non select could go to 32 teams and the quality wouldn’t drop off near the level it does in others.

The name you mentioned earlier is or was assistant coach at Captain Shreve and pitched at Millsaps?

Combine Select/Non-Select and go back to 32 teams. If they keep them separate, I wouldn't be opposed to getting rid of first round of Select and just have 16 teams vs. 24

And where are the adults in the dugout to teach the kids? The adults in the baseball profession have let everyone down.

Next year the division will have 37 teams so that probably isn’t realistic. 28 might be pushing it

I’d love to see combining select & non-select and go to 32 teams where you’d get a true state champion. Imagine some of the great matchups we’d see in the playoffs. Sadly I don’t see it happening so expanding 5A non-select is an idea but definitely need to cut the select side bc it’s ridiculous some of the teams that are making the playoffs

I think it was talked about last week. Totally ridiculous, but that’s expected at a private school. Alot of private schools in the state have ran off really great coaches.
