They won’t go to 32, but I was saying they could with quality of teams.
Good teams still miss playoffs in D1NS. No other division has that.

You’ll have a 6a before everyone gets back together. Everyone that’s D1 (both select and non-select), enrollment disparity is too large, in my opinion. You’ll have schools that barely have 1000 kids competing with schools pushing 2400 for a championship. It’s essentially P4 vs G5.

I think it was talked about last week. Totally ridiculous, but that’s expected at a private school. Alot of private schools in the state have ran off really great coaches.

Barbe and a few of the better schools pushed hard for more 3 game series in the playoffs, as the better team should win more of those. In the past, Barbe and others occasionally would lose to a low seed early on, weaker team with one D1 stud pitcher. They wanted to change the rules to ensure that the better team advanced more often.

And where are the adults in the dugout to teach the kids? The adults in the baseball profession have let everyone down.
its not that the kids are doing anything wrong, i just think they look stupid
the barbe kids dont really say or do anything crazy, i have seen the coaches jump asses over that.
but like the rowing the boat thing that apparently offended people....nothing wrong with it, i just think it looks stupid.

It’s gonna be about money. I think bid process has a lot to do it with. Then it’s the facilities after that.

but definitely need to cut the select side bc it’s ridiculous some of the teams that are making the playoffs
Select is increasing from 20 teams to 24…
This year we missed the nonselect playoffs with a PR that would have hosted a series in select…

How realistic would it be to require teams to have winning records going into playoffs? I can’t imagine it’s all that possible.

no i think you misunderstood how good dutchtown and zacahry and even mandeville/hahnville where on that side of the bracket. They all have big time recruits too. you also under estimated how much of a difference there is between seniors and freshman. Barbe played 3 or 4 freshman every game in the series. that makes a big difference and its why i said to be cautious with those post you were making. not having heath hurt too
i admit I did think barbe would end up winning it all but i thought it was going to be very very tough. I thought all season dutchtown was good and thought they would be a top 4 seed before the last 2 weeks of the season
I think many posters on here too dont understand that at the big 5a schools the talent level is all really really good. And with the spread of info many programs have very good off season programs now, they watch video, they scout for tendencies etc.
Thank you for educating me LSU777. Having never played or coached organized sports myself, and not having kids as athletic as all of these social media sensations, and yes, maybe you have forgotten more baseball than I will ever know, it looks like I was off base. Don't know this Barbe coach like you do, or who the next elementary school phenom is, I was out of line for commenting on things I know nothing about.

That has become subjective in a way. Some teams are scheduling for power points which they are sacrificing potential wins against weaker opponents to play the likes of Barbe, Sam Houston, Catholic, Live Oak, Central, etc.... who they know will most likely win 20+ games each year.
I will use St. Michael as the example. They had a losing record and almost upset #1 on a 2 out of 3 series. Tookie had always scheduled a ton of strong 3A, 4A, and 5A knowing they would win a ton of games that helped with power points. Playing district games against Tara, Broadmoor, McKinley actually hurt vs helping in power points. You are required to play them. It has made it to winning district doesn't mean what it used to back before the power point system being implemented.

Top teams would still want the top seeds and home games, but mid-level teams would probably dumb down their schedule for wins to make sure they get in
I do think there should be a disincentive for schools to schedule opponents lower than two classes beneath them. Just by looking at a map those power point opportunities aren’t evenly distributed around the state

From the outside looking in I felt like Barbes Coach is a huge distraction for the team with his antics through the games.
I even saw the 3b coach, who think is his son, a couple times pointing to the dugout for him to get out of what was going on.
Am I wrong with that?

I’ve heard people mention a cap on opponents wins. Like maybe a max of 15 points for a loss.
I’ve been on the train for adding multipliers on district games. Maybe district wins count for 1.5 wins. Maybe losses count for 0.5 wins.
The caveat is the number of district games. That ranges from 4-14 throughout the state.

Nobody would go for that. Especially schools that play in tougher districts. Why would you want to reward a team more who is in a district with softer teams.

I didn't my friend, all good! I just like messin with you too, still weird to me that you know so much about everybody's business, who the best 2nd graders are in Po-Dunk parrish, what their favorite colors are, etc. but you do offer a lot of good insight and this board is better for it, so trying to cut you some slack, LOL.

I dont care what kids do in dugouts aside from a couple things...one is beating on any dugout material that is not a pad....please quite banging on dugout roofs made of metal...please. And no screeching noises that are just done to disrupt the other team.
Chant, cheer, row, dance...I dont care. I do think you look like a softball team.
Lastly, I have seen something this year I havent seen before and it happened at least 3 times and that is calling 'I got it, or BALL" out of the dugout on popups. I think that should lead to an automatic out and a warning of some sort. Maybe it is supposed to and did not.
