Curious what you mean by modern methods. If you're talking about data like spin rate and exit velo, I don't think most HS kids have the aptitude to gain value from it. Most of them tend to overthink and underwork. Just my opinion.

when i say that I mean proper off season programming. So essentially you create a full time S&C program that runs in and off season where you are tracking short sprint times(tracked on laser timers, specifically 10yd dash and 10-10 flyes but others like 20/30yd work too), vertical & broad jumps(tracked on mats or lasers), med ball throws(tracked by radar gun) then lifting tracking bar velocity. every single thing done is done with the intention that it is done 100% for getting faster and stronger

then on the hitting side you develop a 24 week plan that attacks mainly bat speed with different phases. But have plans for kids that have great bat speed but need to work bat path too. You track it with blast sensor and then you can use the phone apps if you cant get things like hit trax. Work on attack angle to get the ball in the air off machine work to get used to hard velo

then on the throwing side, develop a 24 week plan to attack throwing velocity. 1 for pitchers, 1 for position players only. this should be phased with long ramp up phase. You can use med balls or weighted balls but every throw is tracked and radared even on light days to make sure they actually stay light. Combined with a long toss program. You then blend to the mound over the last 8-12 weeks to be ready for start of the season

not that difficult but it requires actual understanding in how to set these things up and its a lot of data capture and tracking but its how you run a 1st class program.

Sam houston beat Sulphur last night 2-0. Great game by both pitching staffs. Galley pitched for SH, Landry for Sulphur. play against tomorrow night.

Barbe beat Southside 8-1 to run the winning streak to 29 games. play again at Barbe thursday.

Westlake & St Louis play in a huge matchup tonight in terms of power rankings. If St Louis wins, they pretty much lock up a top 4 seed an dif Westlake wins, they pretty much lock up the 3 seed. Barring a big upset the winner will face south beau in the ship. South Beau plays Jennings tonight. if SB wins both then they lock in the 4 seed. If westlake loses tonight and then south beau wins their two, they prolly jump westlake to be the 3 seed

only matters because most sane head coaches would rather Doyle in the Semis over Sterlington. Downside is the 4 seed will have to play erath in the quarters which will not be easy at all.

Glenmore beat Grace Christian last night 1-0 to secure the district championship.

Great atmosphere and it stayed very civil for rivals in a big game. 2 years in a row now that Central/Zachary has split with great pitching.

2025 Game 1: Zachary 2 - Central 0
2025 Game 2: Central 2 - Zachary 1
2026 Game 1: Zachary 1 - Central 0
2026 Game 2: Central 1 - Zachary 0

Most of these kids all played ball together or against each other growing up. Great series.

Holy Cross beat Rummel to split the series.

BM swept Aug, Curtis swept Karr, and Jesuit swept Easton.

Final series of district will be BM v Karr, Rummel v Jesuit, HC v Aug, and Curtis v Easton.

Unless I miscalculated, the district title likely depends on the Rummel v Jesuit series (unless BM loses a game to Karr). Rummel sweeps, BM wins it. Split, BM and Jesuit share the title, Jesuit sweeps, BM wins it.

Regardless, I don't think BM will hold onto the 1 seed in Select. I just hope they hold onto #2.

Just heard young LO assistant so that would be Cade or the Pitching Coach who is a Parkview/Woodruff legacy.

Is there a place to see district standings? Checked LHSAA and Crescent City Sports, did not see it. Not paying for Geaux Preps.

I'm really not sure. Catholic League Sports posts them periodically but I'm kinda spitballing off of memory.

Jesuit currently has 2 district losses. Rummel and Brother Martin each have 3 district losses. Jesuit play Rummel tonight and on Saturday. Brother Martin plays Karr, so unlikely to have any other losses prior to wrapping up district play.

Zachary at Catholic today is gonna be a good one. Zachary won this game 1-0 last year. Zachary is pitching Sullivan who shut them out last year.

last night St louis beat Westlake 4-3 on a HBP to walk it off

South Beau beat Jennings 3-2.

South Beau will play St Louis tonight for the district title.

this game is important because top 6 right now in D3NS are

1 Sterlington- 33.28
2 Doyle- 32.39
3 Westlake- 31.44
4 South Beauregard- 31.12
5 Erath- 31.05
6 Kinder- 29.27

if South Beau beats St Louis, there is a small chance they jump westlake. Now that Sterlington has jumped Doyle, every1 wants that #3 seed to avoid sterlington.

if st louis wins they could jump rosepine to move into the #3 spot and avoid Uhigh until the finals.

yall were talking earlier about BM not holding top spot, here is top 6 in D1S

1 Brother Martin-34.69
2 Catholic - B.R.-33.40
3 John Curtis Christian-32.43
4 St. Thomas More-32.28
5 Archbishop Rummel-31.86
6 Jesuit-31.10

Jesuit may jump Rummel if they sweep but other then that, I dont see much movement. STM only has Catholic of NI left i think. so unless JC some how loses to Warren Easton, I dont see how.

I dont think there will be any changes between the top 2 though. Unless BM loses to Karr...they have the #1 spot wrapped unless I am missing something.

Sulphur plays Sam Houston again tonight. Sulphur needs the win to secure a top 8 seed and Sam Houston needs it to make sure they stay at number 2.

Barbe host southside tonight on senior night. Barbe has wrapped up the 1 seed no matter what, but if southside wins, they will make a big big jump in the power rankings. they currently sit at 16.

right now the top 8 are

1 Barbe 38.37
2 Sam Houston 33.50
3 Zachary 33.30
4 Dutchtown 32.82
5 Benton 32.64
6 Hahnville 32.63
7 West Monroe 32.45
8 Sulphur 32.03

I would love for things to stay like this but I also wouldnt mind sulphur losing and falling to the 10 spot either. If benton can stay at 5 that helps barbe imo as it keeps Romero and Cupit on the other side of the bracket. If sulphur fell to 10 would minimize district rematches

Barbe has southside tonight then grace christian in DH tomorrow. I am sure they will throw off possibly and im sure GC will throw the big lefty so there is a chance for Barbe to lose one of those.

I got confused and missed my assignment covering Opelousas Catholic at STM. Thought it was tonight.

Instead, I'll be at Catholic NI at STM tonight.

Thanks for the breakdown.

I'm bullish on Catholic NI in D3 until somebody knocks them off in the playoffs.

I miss the days when this was the state tournament. Top 8 made it. 3 games in 3 days. Now it’s championship series only.

Crazy to me that BM may end up being the 1 seed without even winning their own district. I'm assuming they played a brutal non-district schedule and fared pretty well.

Thank the split lol… we’re struggling to get in the nonselect playoffs but if we were in select we’d be hosting round 1

i mean i get it from a seeing baseball games perspective but this essentially stops teams from riding 1 kid all the way through with the 3 game series. To me it tells who is the better overall deepest team or who got hot as a whole team.....not the team with the best pitcher

but as a WM fan, im sure you do want 1 game series this year

It was 3 rounds in 3 days. It SHOULD have stopped teams from riding 1 arm. Unfortunately it didn’t. This format is what caused Tulane to say they’ll never take another Barbe player due to them all being used up and injured when they get to college. Crazy that a college coach said that, but it happened.
