South Beau beat Sacred Heart saturday 5-2 and sits at 12-4
Weird game. South Beau had five hits, zero walks, and SHS committed one error that didnt hurt them in the game. Every South Beau hit came in one inning, within 6-7 batters.
I dont think SHS saw South Beau's best game, but I may be mistaken.
Kid from DeQuincy that pitched earlier in the day was throwing 84-86 with a nice CB. Rodriguez. Not sure his age.

It’s funny how 25 years ago this made you a DUDE but now just about every small town and school seems to have one.

how does Mississippi high school baseball compare to Louisiana as a whole?
Top 3-4 teams can compete with the top teams in Louisiana. Madison Central/ NW Rankin/ Desoto Central/ Oak Grove/ etc. I also know the private schools are becoming talent rich as well.
The big difference is 6-25 LA has a huge advantage in depth of good teams.

Brandon took a pair from WM earlier this year. Both 1 run games.

BM is rocking right now.
True. We shall see, though. They get Rummel, Jesuit, Curtis, then St Aug now. I really don't think anybody's beating Catholic, though.

Not my small town. We wish we had one throwing that hard.

Barbe beat New Iberia 9-3
St Louis beat Grand Lake 8-5
Sam Houston beat Southside- 5-2
Sulphur beat Acadiana- 3-2
Westlake lost to Terrebonne- 14-4
Also New PG national rankings came out yesterday. They are kind of crazy in the top ten, The Bennet School has wins over IMG and Barbe but behind them, Farragut, the #1 team in TN, beat the Bennet school twice yet is 38 and lost to Bishop Snyder out of florida in the south walton tournament. South Walton has a 5-4 win over the bennet school in extras and a 5-4 loss to img.
I do find it awesome so many in the top 50 have played each other

how is Prairieville doing this season?
and how do they look going forward? Specifically the 7/8/9th grade classes? will they be taking huge chunks of talent away from the other traditional powers in the AP?
its such a weird dynamic to me since we dont see it often anymore, just plopping down a new 5a public school like that.
also what is the better school in terms of academics and reputation of the families there? like which one draws more from the better/bigger subdivisions?

Prairieville has a really good freshman class, probably the better talent in our area. I hear 8th grade class is very good as well for them.
They have solid coaching and brand new facilities and should be the preferred school going forward as all the new developments are in that area. Dutchtown will be the school that gets hurt by this school. St. Amant has a very good sophmore class.
As far as academics I believe Dutchtown and Pville are the same but Pville is in a better area with all those new subdivisions.
Dutchtown is the school that is feeling the biggest affect from the new school. After this year they are going to struggle and not brining in alot of kids from what I hear.
Shakes kid is going to be a fresman and he is a stud all around. May actually have a chance to start as a freshman if hes able to transition and hit varsity pitching

so St Amant is the lower class of the three schools?

Coached a couple of those pville kids - yes they should be formidable
Posted on 3/20/26 at 10:04 am to lsu777
I wouldn't say lower class. They have an awesome coach and very good underclassman. School wise are good but believe Pville and Dutchtown are better rated school as far as academics goes.
In our area St Amant and Pville will be the top baseball schools going forward in our area.

Pville 28 & 29 classes are really good. It is basically what Dutchtown's classes normally look like minus one or 2 players.
DT 28 and 29 are not strong , have a couple upper end players but drops off fast. Interesting to see how the program goes after this year. (27 wasn't very good either)
Sta 28 class looked really strong but it's not very good on the mound. Not as deep as Pville though they do have the best 28 player. 29 isn't as good as Pville either.
No excuse for Pville to not have the best team the next couple years.

Jesuit beat Curtis 4-3. Jesuit came to bat down 2 in the bottom of 7 and walked them off. They play again tomorrow
