not missing anything, you could throw St Louis in there too as they have been really good. But good luck getting the coaches to do that, especially in the catholic league, they are not going to want to play district rivals. SH didnt throw pat connor for that reason.

St. Louis would be good as well. I don't understand the old school coaches still worrying about district, it's all power points now anyway for the playoff bracket.

i do not get it either

especially since video is everywhere from homeplate of these kids. along with the metrics and tons of schools have the spinball machine or the ihack and they can program the exact spin rate, velo and IVB/HB for the pitches

so not like saving a pitcher does something amazing where the kids never see them. plus they all grew up playing against each other for most part.

In basketball, the Catholic League teams specifically scheduled non-district games against each other. Not saying baseball would do the same, but I don't think the possibility of them seeing each other pre-district is completely off the table.

i would love to see more tournaments like the 2d one was. Would love 2d to put it together as catholic school tournament. hell invite top 5 big schools and top 5 small schools from the state and then 3 catholic schools from out of state for each and do 2 eight team tournaments...big and small classification.

Basketball their district games were one each… baseball will be twice each in district, already 14 district games so they might really get sick of seeing each other… then all being bunched near the top of the select bracket means plenty of playoff rematches

They used to have a tourney in New Orleans every year with Catholic, Jesuit, Rummel, Brother Martin, etc

Not sure why they stopped doing it

Rummel beat Curtis 1-0 in 8 innings in the catholic league opener, Curtis continues to struggle at the plate.

Maybe so. I think it would be good for the rivalries, personally. I wish district was best 2 out of 3, too. Trim some of the fat on pre-district, roll out a Catholic League vs the field type of tourney, and go to 2/3 district games.

That would be 21 district games if it was a 3 game series vs everybody… ain’t nobody signing up for that. It sounds nice for the fans but the coaches have power ratings to worry about

You’re probably more likely for it to go down to 7 lol. That way everybody gets Karr only once and it doesn’t hurt St. Aug or us much either. Then we can play the teams we’re a little better than

The WGNO. Ed Daniels had a lot to do with the sponsorship and organization of the tourney.

last night

southside beat sulphur 5-3. very good win for southside as Sulphur has been very hot. Sulphur falls to 11-5 on the season

New Iberia upset Sam Houston 10-8. Sam Houston falls to 14-5 and is not playing their best ball right now. I expect that to change come playoffs though, Hebert always has them ready to battle.

St Louis bounces back with a huge win over St Thomas More 7-6. moves them to 15-4 on the season. Very good start for them.

Westlake loses to Notre Dame 4-0 and falls to 11-4 on the season.

Barbe had a double header yesterday with Carencro instead of returning Thursday. Barbe won game 1 in 5 innings 10-0 and then in 2nd game won 14-0 in 5 innings. Barbe moves to 19-1 on the season with the only loss being that 2-1 game against The Bennett School.

By the time they brought Galley in, they had already given up 9 runs. NISH had a grand slam in the 2nd and a 3 run HR in the 3rd. SH was in a hole really quick and tried to battle back.

BM beat Holy Cross, 7-0. HC pitcher couldn't find the strike zone in the 1st. BM hit a little bit but HC mostly just beat themselves. Tingstrom threw well for BM. They play again tomorrow.

BM beat HC 14-2 in 5 innings at HC. BM swung the bats well tonight, but HC still didn't do alot well. BM sweeps.
