The Bennett school came in with the hype as prolly the best team in houston metro (memorial & kingwood certainly have argument) and wanted all the smoke and handled it. Both games I was impressed with the composure and how they handled the game when it got tight.

Those three aren’t comparable. Memorial and Kingwood are real schools. The Bennett school is a home school online network that took 25 Major d1 commits from South Texas, convinced them to leave their high schools (which that’s fine if you want) and they go to school for like 2 hrs a day and the rest of the day is for baseball. I have no problem with a place like that existing but they shouldn’t be playing against normal high schools. Go play against d3, naia, juco and post grad academies

The Bennett “School” is maybe the most disgusting overreach from travel baseball, and the most concocted educational facade I’ve ever seen. It’s like a glorified hulked up John Melvin University.

Well to be fair…they didn’t have tonic to get people to transfer especially with the school choice stuff so it’s almost free

And as far as academics..it’s 2-3 hours depending on what the lessons are that day. Despite what many of you may think, even at really good schools, they don’t do much more than that, if that. They just cut the BS or busy work

The program they use is the alpha program. Quite a few schools along the east coast use it. The program has been producing 30+ act scores way above average. I know may are going to criticize the academics but if you pay attention to these things, I would bet they produce much higher than average act scores. It’s an AI teaching based program for those that don’t know.

I don’t think I would send my kids there because imo HS is about more than pure academics and sports. Lots of other experiences that shape your future that those kids are missing out on.

But it’s not really fair to criticize them on academics when the program they are using is very very proven to produce way above average results.

Can I ask why you say that? It’s no different that European or DR style academy’s.

If you know the program the use for academics and the results that program has produced…why would you say that?

Genuinely curious, not criticizing your opinion. Maybe I’m missing something, only have surface level knowledge and what I have been told by parents that have middle school kids there.

Ftr I am anything but anti education, quite the opposite so maybe I am missing something on the academics part.

That would be my biggest issue. And I don't think getting an elite team together to beat traditional high schools is going to get them any more prepared for the next level. Something that Jay Johnson said that I completely agree with is that jumping from high school to the SEC is the biggest jump they will have in their baseball careers. Much more steep of an incline than going from college ball to professional ball unless Rob Manfred decides to whack a couple of levels of minor league ball and they have to start in AA. Been in the Lake Charles area a long time and have seen a ton of "can't miss" prospects that couldn't hit their weight in college and some never heard from again. And that's not the fault of the whatever high school they attended. It's just that hard. Many just can't generate the bat speed to catch up to what is being thrown in big time college ball.

Zachary beat Vermillion Catholic 3-2 after beating BM the day before.

St. Amany over Parview 9-5. Logan Sorel went 3 innings gave up 4 runs 0 earned, 1 hit and 4 ks.

BM over St. Michael 7-4. 4 erros by STM lead to only one earned run by BM.

How many D1s did Curtis have on their roster this year? Curtis gets a lot of hate, but I see them do more with less….eg Karr, etc

Additionally, the Curtis family is about building character and content in their kids…..hard to find people with kids best interest after high school in today’s sport environment…..

If there is one thing this board is consistent with…it’s hate for any program that does well year in and year out.

Catholic, karr, barbe, Curtis, Uhigh, Sam Houston, TC, STM, WM, sterling ton…all receive a ton of hate on here.

If a school is really good at a sport…the get bashed for one thing or another

I don’t disagree with any of that and I’m all for parents and kids doing what they think is best for them, BUT, let’s not call what they are doing high school baseball. Let’s call it something else.

California and Florida have had these type of teams for a couple of years.

The CA team just had 2 or more drafted in the 1st-2nd rounds

Not sure about Brusly’s, but can’t remember seeing bounce like that on all the other turf fields I’ve been to

Brusly coach needs to stack his lineup with hitters swinging top half and give preference to those on the track team. LOL

Catholic completes the sweep 5-3 over WM.

WM 3-6-2
Catholic 5-6-2

Just can’t get past them it seems. Literally same number of hits every game for both teams. Catholic just found ways to win games. Hats off to the Bears.
