Red Bull has publicly been downplaying expectations on their PU. I think they’ll be legit.

So Cadillac went out and turned laps while Williams is overweight and can’t pass the crash test. I was hoping Williams would really turn the corner with the new regs but it seems like they are back where they were.

I mean, Williams likely failed the tests months ago. The weight could be to solve the failures. They will have a car by Bahrain and what is likely rhe best engine.

It certainly does look like a step back from the progress they have been making.

I’m hoping Caddy scores points this year

That would be great for a first year team

Redbull used to always fail the crash test the first time, but then they would pass it and have their car ready. Nobody plans to fail it three times, this is probably destroying their developmental budget.

Aston martin is also not expected to make it until day three of this testing due to an assembly problem.

Hadjar stood out today in the Redbull, will be interesting what kind of lap times Max puts in tomorrow. Looks like they are trying a no side pods car this year which is interesting.

Edit: Not sure why this is in espanol all of a sudden but for those who no habla: Lowdon: "We gave Checo this gift, it's the first brake disc from the car he's driving, but with the budget cap he has to give it back to us on Wednesday"

To me it looks like an unmitigated disaster. Like they're going to have a 2024-like season. Sure, we expect that they will have a car ready for the first official testing session in 16 days, but missing out on three shakedown days at the start of a new rules package really puts them behind the eight ball. And the car they bring is going to be junk. And this has gotta be eating into their development budget.

quote:

Williams changed their car manufacturing process for 2024 in an attempt to modernise its systems. This meant that Williams initially had to produce metal car parts to save time, instead of the carbon fiber that modern Formula One cars are built out of. However, this actually led to them exceeding the weight limit, and the team was losing 0.45 seconds a lap. Additionally, the usage of metal parts resulted in heavier crash damage.

This is the kind of start to the season they're going to have.

Video blocked.

I was just reading an article from The Athletic about one of the guys that broke in to the track to view the sessions. Got ran off by police multiple times but managed to camp out around the outskirts all day.

I know its only day 1 and the other competitors haven't run... but pretty funny the RB and Merc performed like the internet gossip around the engine metallurgy claimed they would...
