Him trying to pronounce SVG’s name at Chicago in 2023 and sounding like he had a stroke on-air is frickin hilarious. Even to this day.

I guess y’all saw that NASCAR won the latest round in court, no injunction for 23XL or Front Row.
FYI, Deb Williams the longtime racing journalist (one of the best ever) was on Dale Jr.’s YouTube show yesterday and had some interesting things to say about the suit over the course of a very good nearly 90-minute conversation, she’s been in the courtroom for the proceedings.
1. She pondered whether 23XL and Front Row filed this suit out of principle because they didn’t like being told “take it or leave it” to their faces, but she recalled an attorney telling her one time that you never sue out of principle, that will get you in trouble, you sue over facts.
2. She seemed favorable to the Frances, going on about how even though they have actually fricked some things up, this one family has worked for more than 70 years to build this out of nothing and now someone wants to take it away from them. She also painted it in terms of free enterprise, should someone be intruding on a private business’ attempts to conduct its business the way it wants to.
3. She said she was stunned by the emails.
4. She said if this goes before a Southern jury, especially a rural one, as noted above you’re going to get people who think a private business should be able to conduct its business the way it wants to.
5. She said if she was a track owner or someone trying to attract a sponsor, she’d be concerned because a lot is going to be in limbo until this trial.
6. She likened this to “two mules that have dug their heels in, laid their ears back and bared their teeth.”
By the way, if you watch this interview, the issues she had with Junior Johnson, she didn’t go into detail with Dale Jr. but she has in other interviews, Junior kept trying to get into her pants and wouldn’t take no for an answer.

I’ve been saying Nascar will win. I hate what they’ e done to the sport but they will win the lawsuit. If they were to lose think of Indycar and what that split did to them.
And ratings continue to tumble. The racing is flat out horrible with this clown car. Last week ratings were down 10% over prior year. And ratings have never recovered from Prime disaster. Prime broke me of my habit from years of watching and now I don’t follow like before. Where are all those “new” fans they bragged about picking up? Oh, they aren't watching a 3+ hour parade.

If tweet fails to load, click here. The best days of Stewart-Haas Racing came when they were a Chevy team with an alliance with Hendrick Motorsports.

Didn’t watch a single lap of today’s race at Gateway. Hamlin won. Apparently it was a standard boring race for the Next-Gen car at that type of track.

Creed caused another wreck and then finished 2nd for the 15th time without a win. Busch racing is much better than Cup. He is wasting a seat.

Agree with that. The lack of activity in this thread is proof of what the sport has become. The F1 thread has about 2000 more posts.
We’ve got the Bristol night race tonight, allegedly a crown jewel…. I don’t even know what channel it’s going to be on.
This event used to draw like 175,000 people to Bristol and 4 million on TV. 20 year waiting list for tickets. Will 100,000 be in the stands? Who knows, since NASCAR apparently doesn’t post attendance numbers. Will 1.5 million watch on TV?

NBC knows TAMU/Notre Dame will draw far more eyes than NASCAR.

I didn’t even know the race was on last night. For a Bristol night race, that is just sad. NASCAR is a crumbling sport.

Me either. I could tell you every Cfb game in the top 25, but forgot Bristol was even on until Sunday am.

NASCAR really needs to try a Thursday night race during football season just to see how it does. Head to head vs. football is tough. In person crowd might suffer but they ought to do it just to see who watches.
A midweek race might be fun. Sprint cars do it, might as well try it.

They killed the sport when they took it off network. You can deny it but it is the truth.
They should also run from January to Labor day weekend.
Championship weekend on labor day before football gets really started.
Season is too long.
Playoffs start July 4th and finish on Labor day.
They could do some sort of IROC style races in the fall for all young drivers. The champion gets a seat in the cup series.

The race wasnt bad, but was tough for me to get into. The tire wear made it interesting and Im glad Goodyear allowed an extra set of tires but there goes Goodyear/ NASCAR tinkering with something again. Lots off issues with fires and brakes too. Several big names (Elliot, SVG...) had problems. Toyota is dominating the start of the Chase and Im just not a big fan of theirs. The most excitement for me was to see if Bowman could make it into the playoffs (more manufactured drama) and if Brad K could win it at the end but of course he couldnt. He just never has enough at the end. He and Kyle Busch are washed up. They also dont have the best hardware so its not all their fault.
NASCAR issues are discussed at length here but I think the biggest issue is the young stars just arent very likeable. They are boring and non-controversial. Racing needs a bit of drama to make it exciting and NASCAR is quickly losing that. The new young drivers also dont identify well with the old customer base. I will keep watching though because I love all forms of racing!

I kinda like this.
Also, with the playoff format you don't to watch all the races. Just the last one.

Most of the young guys are cookie-cutter personalities. I can't really tell them apart.

I think they are bringing the soft right side tires. It won't be like Bristol, hopefully it will be like Richmond.
