Would be wild if they swapped Yuki and Liam this soon

SkySports and others floating it out there that Yuki may be in the RB seat prior to Japan.

Will get lots of hate, but I can't stand Yuki. Dude suffers from little man syndrome.

Screams and acts like a petulant child.

I think that is why Horner doesn't care for him. All the previous drivers in the 2nd seat were pretty much "yes" men. Yuki will be spicy radio and probably call out some BS within the team structure.

IMO, just let Yuki go for it and if he fails, send him back. There is only upside considering Lawson is lost in the car. This is the final year of competition before the reset.

I think Yuki has settled down a lot over the past year and a half. His racecraft has also improved a good bit. He’s easy for me to pull for. But yeah, younger Yuki was a twat.

Agreed.

Hadjar sounds just like him from a few years ago.

Yeah, that feels more right than ever.

These growing pains need to be over with by next race.

Does anyone know how disqualified drivers are scored in the TD fantasy contest? Do they just get a zero?

I actually feel pretty bad for Lawson. I don't really care for him, but I feel he's getting a raw deal if they switch him. Now, I don't think he should have been given the chance to begin with, but now that you've got him, at least give him a fair shake.

Yeah, two races, at tracks he had no experience on, is a pretty quick hook.

Saying that, he can't drive that RB at all.

I had to think about that for a sec. Yeah, everyone will get zeros for the three DQ'd drivers. What that means is, the higher the finish you picked for a driver, the more you'll be hurt, because of the weighting factor. If you picked a Ferrari driver to finish in the top 3, you'll be punished more than if you picked them to finish P4-P6 (where I suspect most people will place them), because of the 2.0 vs 1.6 weighting factor.

I'll get it updated today and we'll see where everyone lands.

All that chatter about him being replaced immediately is PURE CLICKBAIT. I noticed in the last couple of years how much competition there is from amateur F1 pundits trying to get you to their social media account, their web site, and their YouTube account. First, they give you the headline "Liam Lawson to be Replaced Immediately." Then when you click on it, they quote Horner as simply saying "it's too early to say anything, we'll go back and analyze all of the data and go from there." It's too bad there are big mouths like Ralf Schumacher, in the grand tradition of Jacques Villeneuve, of shooting off harsh pronouncements and acting like they have inside knowledge when they are also just speculating.

Replacing Lawson for Japan would be both ridiculous and kind of reasonable. It's true that he had never been to Albert Park or Shanghai, and it's also true that he underperformed regardless of that fact. But Suzuka is the perfect place to really figure out if there's hope for him. Liam has raced at Suzuka several times in F1 and Super Formula. There are no excuses left. He has three races of experience in the car now, and about nine days of simulator work he can do before heading to Japan. So it makes sense to give him one more chance and set a goal of a high Q2 position or something like that.

The wishcasting of Colapinto fans that Liam would be fired completely and Colapinto would be borrowed from Alpine and put in the VCARB seat is hilarious. I could see Red Bull putting Yuki in the seat at Suzuka and putting Liam back into the VCARB seat and simply admitting that it was a mistake to promote him so fast and that he deserves at least a full season in VCARB before they decide what to do with him. That would be most fair thing to do for Liam because leaving him at Red Bull, even if we see him improve to getting into Q2 regularly and an occasional Q3, it will harm his career prospects if Max continues to qualfiy in the top 5, race after race. Like many people are saying, he shouldn't have been promoted so soon in the first place.

It amazes me that Red Bull can't sort out who can and can't handle that car through all the Sim data they are able to gather from these junior/reserve drivers.

It's obvious the car is super sensative to Max's preference and the front end of that car is really "pointy". Albon has said it's like playing a computer game, but putting the mouse sensitivity on the absolute max setting, then as the year/development progresses, the car gets even more sensative, Max gets quicker and quicker and you doubt yourself even more.

let's see how suzuka does for him. he should know it well from super formula. problem is the car is only gonna get developed for max more as the year goes on. and if he's having trouble now, it will only snowball.

checo at least used to do somewhat decent at the start of the year.
