I think that's why any team with Max will struggle in the constructors because nobody but Max can drive the damn thing. I fear if he goes to Mercedes it will be the same thing.

checo at least used to do somewhat decent at the start of the year.
One thing I hadn't thought of is that even when Perez botched qualifying and started near the back, he usually would be able to move up into the points by the end of the race. It's one thing to not be able to extract the maximum of a tricky car when you are driving it at 10/10ths, but in the race when everyone is driving at 8/10ths to preserve tires, the natural speed of one of the top four cars should move you up from the back, but Liam doesn't seem to go anywhere.

Lawson sounded totally defeated in his post race convo with his race engineer. Said the car only felt good for one lap all day. He’s not exactly a rookie anymore with double digit races under his belt. Sounds like he might truly be in over his head.

OK I finally got the results of the TD F1 championship up.
The winner of the Chinese GP is ephidelt541 ! Rounding out the podium are me and NfamousPanda.
Click on the driver scorecards to see what the disqualifications look like. I believe most people's scores were affected the same amount because most of us placed the Ferraris around P4-P6, which have the same weight factor.
dg42.net/TDF1/race-results.php?race=2
And now we have a championship table. Leading the championship is ephidelt541 with two podium finishes!
dg42.net/TDF1/
15 out of 28 TD F1 competitors have scored points after two races. I think after 24 races everyone will have scored points, at least I hope so!

Haas is good at certain tracks, that was one of them, they might be good again in Japan as well. Wish racing bulls would stop screwing their drivers over

About time Yuki is given a shot.
Should have had the RB seat at the beginning of the year.

Been some rumors over the last day or two that both Max and Sergio were against Yuki getting the second Redbull seat because they both like Yuki and know what a monster that car is. Supposedly they didn’t want that car to negatively impact his career.

Why are both cars set up for Max?
Posted on 3/25/25 at 5:31 pm to Split2874
I don’t know if they are both set up the exact same. I know Checo didn’t always use the same set up as Max for the races.
I think it has more to do with their development of the car during this ground effect era. The driving talent of Max has hidden some of their deficiencies over the past few years and led them down a development path purely focused on performance/speed and not drivability.

The guys at Red Flags make a good point:
- If Red Bull swap Liam for Yuki and he stinks, it shows their “sister” team and driver development program doesn’t work as intended.
If they swap Sushi and he sucks it will show the car is the problem, not the drivers.
He and Lawson were pretty similar last year.

I guess it’s official. Pretty crazy. Think he’ll do better than Liam’s first two races on anger and home pride alone.
We’ll see after that.

Holy shite, everyone seem to believe that it's a done deal pending an official announcement. I think the "emergency meeting" was scheduled for Thursday, so maybe that's when it will be announced.
Talk about embarrassing for Liam. While many felt that it was dumb of Red Bull to move him up with so little experience, he was shooting his mouth off even after the Australia disaster, so I'm not inclined to feel any sympathy for him. However, it really comes down to how Yuki qualifies in Japan. If he's out in Q1 then people will blame Red Bull, but if Yuki gets at least to Q2, Liam needs to eat some humble pie.
So if the swap does take place, the big question is, who will qualify higher, Yuki in the Red Bull, or Liam in the VCARB? I have no idea. Yuki has acted very confident about getting into the Red Bull, but at the Abu Dhabi test he drove last year's car. Maybe the 2025 car is even trickier to drive?
I didn't pay much attention to the 2nd Red Bull team until the moment they fired de Vries and put Danny Ric in the seat. Horner and Danny acted like it was a mere formality that this would be a stepping stone for Danny to get back to Red Bull. But Tost and Marko both said everyone was underrating Yuki, and Danny still had to beat him. At that point most of my attention went to AlphaTauri, and then when Danny Ric got injured and Liam did a few races, even better. And since 2023, AlphaTauri / VCARB, Horner, and Marko have not failed to deliver an entertaining blend of racing, terrible strategy, personnel mismanagement, and epic quotes.

What makes the choice of Lawson even more notable is that Honda had been willing to pay an additional 10 million euros to Red Bull if they chose Tsunoda as a replacement for Sergio Pérez in 2025. Honda already pays 10 million euros annually for Tsunoda's Racing Bulls seat, but they were willing to double that if the Japanese driver were to land the second seat alongside Verstappen.
Horner dismissed the offer at the time, but sources have told De Limburger that such a deal is now on the table. The savvy top brass at Red Bull Racing has reached out to the Japanese multinational in recent days and literally asked how much they are willing to pay to have Tsunoda race alongside Verstappen for the rest of the year. Reports indicate that Honda is willing to pay several million for their dream transfer.
Sushi is a pay driver.
