Will Carlos and Yuki pit early for clean air?
If someone in the back half of the grid pits almost immediately, that puts tremendous pressure on the other cars that plan to pit early, because the undercut is going to be immediately effective. Could be a weird and wild first part of the race.

The only thing that works against the quick pit strategy is they risk getting caught by the leaders and lapped.
A faster car like Yuki should have an advantage to pass back markers and prevent this. I would do it. I don't see Yuki battling to a top 5 and he could use some strategy help.

Oh, also George and Kimi can benefit from clean air early.

Max and Hadjar starting side by side. I’m sure the rookie will get his marching orders tonight.

Hass needs to pit Bearman on lap 1 and 2. Then wait for the Stroll safety car.

Lewis picking up the 3 grid spots for the Verstappen event.

Bottom sticky is dumb.
I think the double pit stop strategy will make tomorrow more interesting.

Yeah, but the head cluckster seems pretty dead set on them despite push-back. His suggestion is to use notifications, but the problem is notifications don't work well.

shite. That’s rough.
Good for Lando putting it together for a few really quick laps.

Hamilton should start on used med and pit on the first lap for softs. Then run those hard in clean air. I just want to see the chaos that would cause.

People bag on NASCAR for manipulating races, and rightly so.
F1 is doing much the same thing with mandated pitstops and DRS.
Also, has anyone ever determined if the changes from a few years ago (wheel covers, fenders, etc) actually increased the number of overtakes that are happening on track? F1 said it was going to happen but I have never seen any data supporting that assertion.

I remember reading about a similar F2 or F3 pileup where the writer said "the drivers' sensitivity on cold tires (or tyres) bordered on the autistic".

It boils down to how do you have exciting racing while maintaining the high safety standards that didn't exist in F1 30 years ago.
If you don't have mandated pit stops it becomes glorified karting and DRS is going away next year.

No but it certianly don't feel like it's had a huge impact.
