I agree about degradation and forced pit stops being good for the sport. I just want to make sure people understand that tire degradation is built into the tires. Or tyres, as it were.

Of course.

Same. I found Pirellis to be soft such that they punctured in catastrophic ways easier than Continentals. I have had great luck with continentals and I'm old enough now such that I have decided to stop wasting time evaluating tires/prices every time I need a set and just buy the best continentals that work for my vehicle.

Seems like an obvious pick. Assume they go with a vet for the other seat like Bottas.

Someone who actually knows the tracks they will race one. Imagine they have a capable simulator, but it will be shite for a few years until they can get data to converge.

That would be awesome. Herta is my favorite IndyCar driver.

Herta is an obvious choice because:

1. He's associated with Andretti.
2. He's a naturally fast driver.
3. He has F1 aspirations.

Herta is not an obvious choice because:

1. He's been driving Honda power for a long time, although I don't think he has any specific sponsorship ties to Honda.
2. He makes boneheaded mistakes.
3. Pato O'Ward has been driving Chevy power for a long time.
4. O'Ward is also fast and has been doing much better in the IndyCar championship the last few years.
5. O'Ward has had more F1 sessions and I think has done well.

I like Herta. I'm not a fan of O'Ward, he has that weird mental stubbornness that I have also seen in Perez. In 2022 or 2023 O'Ward slammed Dixon out of the race at Long Beach in a ridiculous move, and even days later he wouldn't admit that it was a dumb kamikazee move that was never going to work. But O'Ward has been consistently more competitive in the IndyCar championship the last few years than Herta. I would take O'Ward myself if I'm looking at IndyCar drivers.

Andretti would have to pay 25% more for a Mexican like O'ward.

Not last year, though. If Herta has another good year I'd bet the seat is his. Hell, he might be in just as long as he gets the SL points. Just depends on if GM has a strong stance on having an American driver. Is so, idk who else it would be.

I don't see Herta being a better driver than Sargent as he makes a lot of stupid mistakes.

Just like Logan.

Indy drivers will take Indy money to drive F1

Colton Herta is my favorite Indycar driver as well. Unfortunately I dont think he has the killer instinct for F1.

I would rather Bryan Herta to be on the F1 team over Colton Herta.

Correct, it replaced the refueling aspect when that was removed from the sport
