How in the world does Merc miss that weight?

The fact that Mercedes left the exact amount of fuel in the car makes me think they knew this was going to happen. Also makes Toto’s demeanor afterwards make more sense.

More fuel consumption after unexpectedly running that long in free air with no drs, no cooldown lap to pick up extra rubber, a lot more tire deg from running a one stop.
Edit: sorry, the fuel part doesn’t matter. It was weighed without fuel.

What could explain how they got into this situation? Maybe before the race they had to replace a part with another that was 1.5kg lighter?

The driver with better form right now is ricciardo over yuki and perez.
Yuki and perez have both crashed twice in the last month.
Yuki was leading ricciardo 6-2 after 8 races.
Last 6 races ricciardo leads yuki 4-2.
yuki was handed ricciardos spot last week with a stupid strategy call .
When they were on their last stint of 30 laps ricciardo was .3 sec faster per lap.
So 8-6 which should be 7-7.
Redbull need who is in the best form right now.
And that is ricciardo over yuki.
Hoping they stick with perez and mclaren win the constructors.

Maybe, but Hamilton had a lot more DRS, so maybe he didn't burn as much fuel.
