Seeing if floated that Visa Cash App (worst racing team name ever) is re-signing Danny Ric...

WTF is RB doing overall?

Checo and Danny both underperforming in the car, yet they both get extensions?

The reports of Helmut Marko not being in control of the driver program anymore must be true, he’s never put up with this much before pulling the trigger

Yep, Perez confirmed, and VCARB just said that they are happy with, and intend to continue with Yuki and Danny next year, leaving Lawson out and presumably letting him go.

Yuki has scored points in 5 out of the 8 grands prix this year. Danny hasn't scored a single point in a grand prix. Last year in the races that they both ran, Yuki scored points in 4 of the 7 grands prix (would have been 5 except he botched his race in Mexico), and Danny scored points in just 1 race. Last year excuses were made about Danny being rusty, and then recovering from his broken hand, and a lot of people expected him to be even with or beat Yuki this year. But the difference between them is the same. We still have 2/3 of the season to go, and VCARB has already declared themselves happy with Danny.

Letting Lawson go when he had a really good showing last year is a little mind-blowing when two out of the four Red Bull drivers are clearly underperforming.

Crazy to me that RB would let Lawson go. It's obvious at this point that Danny is just an RB mascot and Checo still has a seat due to the money he brings in. Both are retaining their seats due to marketing purposes

Logan Sargeant has never out-qualified Albon in a GP session.

He's out-qualified Checo 5 times.

Damn. That's a crazy fricking stat right there.

Always remember their main goal is to sell energy drinks. If Horner wants to stay in the Thai's favor, then he needs to sell a bunch of cans of Redbull. Checo and Danny can sell a bunch of cans of Redbull.

Since we know Perez and Ricciardo are continuing employment with Red Bull for reasons other than pure performance, I was wondering what Red Bull sales were like in various countries. I was actually surprised that Red Bull sales were higher in Japan than Mexico.

I think the two bigest reasons Perez still has a job are: the sponsorship he brings, and the fact that his popularity is not just in Mexico, but he affects the US market as well.

Unsourced sales data found on internet, but is probably relatively accurate:

Red Bull sales by country - possible F1 representative
Spain $241M - Sainz
Mexico $295M - Perez
Australia $336M - Ricciardo
Japan $357M - Tsunoda, Iwasa
Thailand $476M - Albon
Germany $501M - Hulkenberg
UK $578M - Norris
Brazil $1B - ???
China $1.3B - Zhou
US $6.1B - Sargeant, Perez?, Herta?

"In terms of further expansion, Red Bull is focusing on the core markets of Western Europe and the USA and on growth markets in developing countries. The US is already Red Bull’s most important market and accounts for over 45% of all sales."

Interesting article with quotes by Horner:
cnbc.com/2023/11/15/red-bull-f1-dominance-boosts-energy-drink-sales.html

quote:

Red Bull declined to share specific sales metrics, but a company spokesperson reiterated the F1 “uplift” and said it’s particularly noticeable in corresponding race markets.

Perez also brings a ton of funding to the team. A friend’s company who has previously sponsored Perez (small decal on helmet) and now sponsors Alonso, told
me the other day that Perez’s ability to bring budget to help offset Max’s salary and future salary requirements were as influential as driving performance.

- Walmart

-america movil

-inter proteccion

-telcel/telmex

are all Redbull Team sponsors directly tied to Perez

I's a lot more subliminal than that, but yeah, that's how advertising works.

Here's a good article to read:

cnbc.com/2024/06/06/f1-new-regulations-suggest-car-makers-not-done-with-ice-engine.html
quote:

Domenicali is clear that sustainable fuels will play a big part in the future of his sport. “F1 has always been seen as having the lightest and best cars, so if sustainable fuels are successful we could go back to a situation where the battery is not needed anymore,” he said.

To get the power split they need for the battery and electric motors, they basically will be using the ICE as a full-throttle, 100% of the time, onboard generator. Will be odd to hear the ICE still at full throttle through low speed turns
