This doesn’t seem like a good long term decision for Red Bull but it has me excited about F1 in general for the next two seasons, championships should be wide open.

I don’t understand F1 wanting to bring in Hyundai over Cadillac tho.

Apparently RB just re-signed Checo for two more years... WTF Cannot believe they didn't grab Sainz

Bonkers unless they smell Versrappen leading to to somewhere (don’t know where that would be other than Merc) and want some continuity…

Makes me think Sainz has something up his sleeve that we’re all missing.

Here are the current openings:

Alpine 1
Alpine 2
Aston Martin (Alonso is staying)
Haas 1
Haas 2
Kick Sauber (Hulkenberg is moving)
Mercedes (Russell is staying)
Racing Bulls 1
Racing Bulls 2
Williams (Albon is staying)

I would think he may land at Mercedes because I'm sure Papa Stroll is going to ensure Tha Windowlicker always has a seat.

Bonkers

It's such a crazy unexpected gamble considering Red Bull is supposedly ruthless about driver performance, and they need a good #2 driver to secure the WCC title. Perez and the fact that VCARB want to continue with Danny makes it clear that factors other than driver performance are pretty important to Red Bull.

Tsunoda's story has intrigued me since the moment they announced Danny as de Vries' replacement. I knew Yuki was driving very well by 2023, but didn't expect him to dominate Ricciardo like he has. If Yuki continues to drive at a relentless level the rest of 2024, and if Perez continues to stumble at Red Bull, I think they are going to look pretty dumb, choosing (whatever the real reason is that they are sticking with Perez) over driver performance.

I don't think so. I think Sainz has been a loser here from the moment Ferrari announced Lewis. There are only two top-tier seats available, and I think he just doesn't fit into the plans of Red Bull and Mercedes, even though he is probably the best option for both teams.

We can also get darker and more paranoid and speculate that some Mexican cartel boss told Red Bull that they would kill Horner if Perez is let go.

It would have been way easier to fire Perez if the Mexican Grand Prix didn't exist.

Well shite, Red Bull could have solved two problems at once.

I can. Sainz is talented, but he’s a bitchmade crybaby. RBR would eat him alive.

Going to be funny if Checo continues to screw up and Ferrari beats RB in constructors.

Racy Spice might not mind that all that much as long as Max wins the WDC.

The team would get more wind tunnel/computer time which they may need with Ferrari and McLaren finally pressuring them.

Jos and Sainz Sr. are both overbearing race dads.

Would have loved to see them throw down in the garage. Would have happened at some point.

He really is.

Logan Sargeant has never out-qualified Albon in a GP session.

He's out-qualified Checo 5 times.

Otmar did his best to hold it together for a long time.

Otmar was good for that team but ownership got in the way, as evidenced in their now removing ocon.

Does Red Bull have the option of swapping drivers to VCARB, and pulling one of those guys to to main team?
