they are signed up to be 2026 engine providers, but don't have a team to work with yet.

It’s a shame that a manufacturer with Porsche’s racing pedigree has been almost non-existent in motorsports premier racing class.

Anyone seen the Horner comment about trying to sign Hamilton?

Don’t have it handy, but he was asked about it since Hams contract is up end of year. Horner said he’s committed to the Checo/Max duo

“We won’t be able to accommodate Lewis” or something like that. Christian can’t help himself.

RBR with Max is not set up to have two #1 drivers. It will always be max and a clear #2.

Jos would be fricking insufferable if Max ever had any real competition.

Would be amazing to see Max just clearly break down into a pissy mess if Checo suddenly caught lightning in a bottle and landed several qualifying as #1. If he could ever learn how to nail the start of a race, and get out to a lead over Max and not relinquish it, Max's head will explode!

Of course, there's no way Racey let's that happen, right? With Max coming up for a contract renewal, would he favor Perez in order to knock Max down a peg or two? Looks like all the drama this year will be inside RBR.

RBR would have no reason to pay Lewis the salary he’s going to demand when they’ll already be the favorite run away with both championships.

Why would Redbull want the 2nd best driver at Merc? They already have a #2 in Checo.

Max's dads head almost exploded after the last race. he looked like he was ready to kill someone because Max came in second. I was thinking did he expect them to tell Checco to just stop in the middle of the track and wait on Max. Checco earned the win and Max earned 2nd.

No. Letting Max get the fastest lap told me all I need to know. They didn't want Checco in 1st place for even a single race.

Also, lets not forget when Ham took the knee for BLM and most of the others drivers bowed down too except Max did not. That one act is why I like Max.

That's not quite how I see it. The team would prefer to keep the harmony, and they told them to drive to a lap time. But they know Max does what he wants and they can't do anything about it, so they aren't going to be too insistent to him over the radio or scold him.

Think it’s a given Ham stays with Merc, but would Papa Stroll kick his kid out and bring in Ham if they are #2 in constructors this year?

That's a good question. I think it depends on how much Lance underperforms this year. The pressure on him is just going to build more and more this year. Alonso will be happy to destroy him.

Not a chance, every move Papa Stoll makes is to get Lance closer to the front. He bought him a team, he's sniped away some of the best engineers, he's building a state of the art facility. Lance has a seat until Lance doesn't want a seat.

It's like the billionaire version of travel ball where the coach wants to exclusively highlight his son.

ETA: I don't think Lance is terrible, I don't think he's top 5 and he's made some boneheaded mistakes but at this point in his career but I don't consider him unworthy of a seat like Mick, Nikita or Latifi were.

Yeah AM exists entirely to give Lance a seat.

But if Ham left Merc for AM, who runs pretty much all Merc's parts, i'd lol.

Papa Stroll seems like the kind of guy that would do that, especially if Alonso comes in at #2 or #3 and Lance comes in around 7 or possibly lower.

Kind of hard to judge Lance because he's always been a mid tier driver in a bottom to mid-teir car. He kind of did okay in the pink Mercedes. That said, he doesn't know how to use mirrors :lol Let's see if he can run with the big dogs. I don't have high expectations, but every so often he turns it on and can drive. It's just not a skill he can sustain for a full race, much less an entire season.

Wow. And the new less than $500 seats will have no view of track lol:

Adam Stern
@A_S12

@F1LasVegas says it sold out of $500 GA tickets for this year, and it only put 1,800 on sale due to potential space constraints @MSGSphere, per source.

There'll be a second GA area, a festival zone with 30K tickets for less than $500 but without track views, in a few months.

Looking at tickets for Miami. Sunday only seems to start at $588 a pop and goes way up from there. It's just a 2 hour drive so the tickets are just about the only expense.

honestly it didn't make much sense for VW to fund two separate engine development programs
