Lewis and Leclerc were just DQed from the US GP due to excessive wear on the underside of their cars.

Weird it was only one Merc and one Ferrari
They only checked the planks on 4 cars.
50% fail rate tells me more would fail if checked.

Hamilton and Leclerc are disqualified from the USGP due to excessively worn rear skid blocks. This will arise from a rear ride height setting that is too low. BUT why would they end up with too low of a rear ride height? ?? It could be any combination of the following. 1. The rear suspension was too soft 2. The rear suspension was too low The rear ride height is your main "adjustment dial" for putting the rear ride height in the optimal window for downforce generation. This setting varies depending on the nature of the circuit (high speed corners vs low speed corners) A lower rear ride height is also good for reducing drag on a given car. 5mm of RRH can translate to a few kph - which is serious! Was this malicious? No. I don't think so They were trying to set up the car as best as they possibly could, but they just ended up slightly too low on the rear. They only had a SINGLE free practice session to setup the car, and may not have done a proper high fuel run. Keep in mind the skid wear limit is 1mm. In order to wear away 1mm of the legality skid, you need to be more than 1mm too low. But the skid wear is a very cut-and-dry legality issue, just like fuel samples etc.

Just gonna assume Russell and sainz were also illegal.

Good question is if they passed after the sprint and if that part is replaceable under parc ferme

All I know is this will not go over well with TeamLH

Id think there will be an appeal, not sure if it happens tonight or if they do it pre-Mexico.
Not sure how you argue if 16 of 20 passed.
Of note, Merc ran that close to the ground with no porpoising.

Even as a Merc fan, I find it funny that the team arguing EVERY team needed to compromise on ride height early last year has figured it out to the point of getting themselves dq’d for being too low…

Sounds like they have accepted it.

Is there anything that officially tracks pit stop performance? It seems Mercedes regularly has 3+ second stops while the teams they’re competing against are all 2+ seconds. I haven’t found anything official, but did find these pit stop standings on planetF1 LINK
Red Bull – 436
Ferrari – 360
McLaren – 307
AlphaTauri – 180
Alpine – 168
Aston Martin – 110
Mercedes – 74
Williams – 36
Alfa Romeo – 34
Haas – 12
Now that things are calming down post race, does anyone have more info on pit stop performance tracking?

These DQs are bad for Haas. Instead of 2 pts, Yuki has scored 5 pts, and now AlphaTauri is close to surpassing Haas in the constructor's championship. And Yuki with 8 pts now is just 1 pt behind Hülkenberg and 2 pts behind Bottas, so he has a real chance to move up two spots by the end of the season.

On the other side of the coin, it's good for Checo

DHL tracks the pit stops. Those points that planetF1 has are from DHL.
LINK
The points are awarded like regular points are. 25 points to the fastest in each race...
You can select teams and compare their average pit stop at each race but I don't think you can find their averages over the whole season.

The result for Sargeant is the first time an American driver has scored a point in Formula 1 since 1993, when Michael Andretti finished third at the Italian Grand Prix.
I remember it like it was yesterday. Honda left F1 at the end of 1992, leaving McLaren in the lurch with no "factory" engine. They were stuck with the under-powered "customer" Ford/Cosworth engines.* Ayrton Senna refused to sign a contract for the 1993 season, but he had no alternatives, so he ended up signing with McLaren on a race-by-race basis for a reported $1M USD per race. Although he didn't win the championship, I consider 1993 Senna's finest season because the McLaren was no match for the Williams but Senna managed to win 5 races (including the legendary Donington Park win) and finished P2 in the championship. Oh wait, this story is about Andretti. So Andretti made it to F1 with much fanfare, only to have an abysmal season where he failed to finish a single lap several times. I think he just couldn't get a handle on the active suspension and the standing start procedure. In the first 12 races, Andretti only scored points in two races and only finished five races. Finally in Italy he picked up his first and only F1 podium, finishing P3, although he finished a lap down on the winner Damon Hill. After the race, because it was late in the season, he wanted assurances from Ron Dennis that he would have a seat the next year, but Ron refused to guarantee it. Michael didn't want to be left out in the cold, so he immediately quit the team with three more races left in the season and signed with Chip Ganassi for 1994 (and he won his first race back in IndyCar at Surfers Paradise). Michael's departure gave Mika Häkkinen his big break. (Häkkinen entered F1 racing for Lotus 1991-1992 but of course that had no chance for success.) Anyway, that's why those were the last F1 points scored by Andretti—he left the team with three races to go. Why those were the last points scored by an American driver for 30 years, well that's a whole other story.
*Apparently later in the 1993 season McLaren was able to get the "factory" spec Cosworth that was being supplied to Benetton.
