It was a great race, top to bottom. It's unfortunate there has to be rain to have a semi decent race vs a snoozer. Love the track

That may have been me. His patron membership is worth the $3.50.
Does anyone have a gif of the guy dressed as a lion waving in the rain? I need that in my life

Started watching everything about 45 minutes late so I basically got to fast forward the delay then was live. Worked out nice. Would have hated to sit and watch that delay.
Great race overall. Not just a ton of passing but it is a fun track with some good racing.
I'm rooting for Williams/Albon hard. They messed up the strategy a little early so it cost Albon a few spots but man he drives the piss out of that car. I hope Williams keeps getting better and he sticks with them but if I was a top team looking for a driver, he'd be the guy I was going after. Sargeant pretty much can kiss his F1 career (for now at least) goodbye. The one time he looks good he wrecks the car. He was already in hot water and I'm sure that did him in.

The guys I've been looking out for this yesr are Albon, Yuki, and recently whoever Yuki's teammate is this week. Albon with another great race. Yuki was having a incredible race considering his P17 starting position. He was headed for a very possible points finish when the guys around him, Lando, Albon, and Hamilton all pitted within a lap of one another, but AlphaTauri kept Yuki out on old tires and ruined his race. They completely botched his strategy and I'm still annoyed. I had been waiting for Lawson to get his opportunity, and he did great under very difficult conditions. Although I want to see him start more races this year, I also want to see the Yuki / Danny match-up continue. It's hilarious how many people assume Danny would/will destroy Yuki. Yuki can hold his own against Danny and I want him to have the opportunity to prove it. I'm assuming Lawson will get at least one more opportunity this week, then Danny will be back in the seat.
It's race week! The Eye-talian Grand Prix! At the track that used to have banking that would put Zandvoort to shame!

It looks like it would be a blast to attend.

I'm curious to see the Danny/Yuki battle the rest of the season too. I personally just don't get the hype with Yuki. I've said it before but I can't really think of too many times where I'm thinking about how great he is driving. I know he is driving around a 1,000HP turd, but at this pace he'll finish with under 10 points on the year and done nothing surprising in qualifying. AT did royally screw up the pit strategy this past weekend though.
I'm not hating on him, I just don't see why he is the one rumored for a RB seat. It'd be a downgrade from Checco imo, and I'm not a Checco fan.

Ahh. yea, can't blame him for that. Wonder who they might have in mind for that seat if Sargeant is gone.

Is Danny Ric gonna be back this year?
I had high hopes for Yuki this season. He has been consistent, at times, but there have been some races where he was never in contention from P1 to the white flag (Austria). He was just missing points at the beginning of the season too, finishing in 11th in 3 of the first 5 races of the season.

I think they were saying he'd probably miss 2 races.

Obviously not exact same, but didn't Stroll break both wrists? He was back very quick.

Just wanted to stop in to say that race yesterday was good fun all around.
Loved the chaos that was caused by the pissing down rain that then stopped after everyone got a full wet tires.
Also, Ferrari not having the tires ready because Chuck said I’m coming in made me LOL in real life.

What hype? Most opinions that I've heard that give Danny a chance to replace Perez (if Danny does well and Perez continues to be lackluster) don't really consider Yuki a candidate to replace Perez. When Danny joined AT, most people immediately assumed he would comprehensively beat Yuki. I think both Marko and Tost felt compelled to say that people are underestimating Yuki. And I can understand why; it's impossible for fans to really know how good or bad this year's AT car is because they haven't had a veteran driver in the car this year who would give fans a reliable indicator of where the car really belongs in the order. Many people assumed that Danny would be that guy, but when Danny's and Yuki's performances relative to each other was pretty even overall in the two races, people interpret that as Danny not being the same fast Danny he used to be, instead of considering that maybe Danny is fast (like how he performed at the Silverstone tire test) but in a slow car, and maybe this should be elevating Yuki's reputation. This is why I looked forward to their continued battle in the 2nd half of the season. I'm happy for Lawson to get some F1 race experience this year but I'm really looking forward to Danny's return so we can continue to evaluate Danny vs Yuki.
And TBH to some extent I feel similar to you. We've seen several results with Albon that have been very impressive, starting with his performance in Australia last year when he pitted on the last lap of the race and finished in the points. The impression we've gotten from Yuki this year is increased reliability, but no race where we felt he placed the car much higher than it had any business being, the way we occasionally felt with Albon and Lando (pre-upgrade).

It was a fun race and RB once again proved why they are the best all-around team. Pretty much a flawless strategy. Easier when you know you have the fastest car, but they didn't panic and switch strategies too soon or too late and had a good mix of strategies between Checo going on inters early and putting max on slicks first.

I’m admittedly very new to F1, but is not kind of messed up how the flew the red flag yesterday? Ocon prepares for the heavy rain by putting on the extremes, loses a bit before the rain comes, and then they fly the flag? Ocon gets penalized for being prepared for rain and everyone else gets a windfall

I am going to assume the reason the race was red flagged was general safety of the drivers. I know that stinks for Ocon, but if the stewards thought the track as a whole was dangerous, then they had no choice.
