AM is on the come up in many areas: new personnel, recently built factory, upcoming engine deal with honda. But lance is simply not a top flight driver…so they will always have a weak #2 seat. It’s sad considering hundreds of millions of dollars have been invested in the team.

These drivers aren't voluntarily moving....
VER, RUS, GAS, LEC, HAM, SAI
Who are you putting in the AM seat that suddenly is putting it on pole or winning races?

Outside of Lance, Aston Martin is going places.

RB had an opportunity to get Alonzo, but Racey thought he was past his prime. Went with Perez.
Imagine Alonzo in Perez's seat at RB and Perez in Alonso's seat at AM? Would AM be as competitive? Would Max still be in the points lead?
Fun to think about it.

Or maybe he knew that putting Alonso in a 2nd seat is a recipe for disaster

As a newer F1 fan, wouldn't the Chief Engineer be privy to bssically everything that makes the RB car so good?
I guess I never really thought about this type of scenario, but shouldn't it then be fairly easy to just copy what RB does and immediately become better than every other team except for RB?

Aston Martin did this when they got a bunch of RBR personnel. But RBR still has newey.

I would imagine he has signed a few documents that limit what he shares.
Obviously there will be gray areas, but from what little I’ve seen, RB will pull the trigger pretty quick on legal action, grievances, etc.
I would imagine he was given that warning as he left the building.

Thanks, appreciate the info.
Definitely seems like a tricky thing to manage.

He won't be allowed to join the team until January 1st. He'll be on "gardening leave" until then. No contact with either team.
Basically by the time he joins McLaren it will be too late to have any real affect on the 2024 car. Due to the cost cap, even if he has some game changing info, McLaren wouldn't likely be able to make it work on their 2024 car. By the time he gets to work on the 2025 car, most of his inside knowledge of Red Bull's car will be pretty old. Innovation moves so fast. Red Bull will likely start working on their 2024 car soon. He won't be around for that work though.
Then the new rules will be applied to the 2026 car.

That new wind tunnel is going to be ready to use next month for McLaren. Finally.

Well Ferrari is arse, I’d love to see merc vs alpine though.

This.
Is it nice to hire off the Saban coaching tree? Sure, but you can't replace Saban.

Just curious, anyone here going to Austin interested in selling their Friday and/or Saturday tickets? Looking for a pair.
