Monaco has become a figment of the past. Track is too short, and too narrow with the width and depth of a modern F1 chassis.

I think you mean "remnant". A figment is imaginary, meaning it didn't happen.

Other than the few laps in the rain, race was boring.
It was arguably the least boring race of this season.

When you factor in qualifying, I think it was the best weekend of the season so far, in the running for sure.

Merc telling George to back off is bullshite. I think he could have taken Ocon.

It wouldn't have been bad to watch him punt Ocon off, get another 5 second penalty, then have HAM stand on the podium instead.

George wasn't going to do shite against Ocon. He couldn't even keep up with HAM.

He reeled him right the frick in, but backed off under orders, going from 16 seconds to under 1 and then back to 11.

Hammy actually would probably frick you, dude. Go give it a shot.

I've seen goldfish harder to bait than you.

George would have passed Ocon, in Monaco, in the rain...

I rewatched the last 30 laps last night and I'm still scratching my head at this. It was pretty boneheaded, and Alonso just kind of shrugged it off. I guess I just have to get used to new nice Alonso.

“I didn’t lead the race from the cockpit as probably you saw from the outside. For me it was very clear that the track on that lap we stopped was completely dry, apart from Turn 7 and 8. So how I will I put the inters? It was completely dry, 99 percent of the track. So I stop for dries.

“The weather forecast [said there] was a small shower and a small quantity of rain as well. We had a lot of margin behind to put on the dry tyres and if necessary [make another stop for] the inter tyres.

“Maybe it was extra safe, I don’t know. But that minute and a half it took to go through Turn 5, 6, 7 and 8 it changed completely again.

AM's mistake was pitting first. They had hards to Max's meds and a huge gap behind. They should have waited on max and covered him. Otherwise why start on hards and basically give up the start for no reward later?

It’s a thing of wonder and beauty,” Kravitz said. “Especially when you compare it to the floor of the Mercedes and the Ferrari, which we also saw up on cranes so we got a full view of it this weekend.
“They look prehistoric. Even the little guide fences have got guide fences of their own on the Red Bull!
“It’s so complex in three dimensions – not only in elements coming down but then curling round and it’s got circles where the vortex start and then the vortices are generated midway through the floor.
“Then what they’re doing with the area under the crash structure and the gearbox as well.
“I tell you, when you look at these pictures and compare them to the Mercedes and Ferrari you think ‘okay, no wonder this Red Bull RB19 is so good’.”

Kravitz has been in the pit lane for decades but he's no aerodynamics expert. A more in depth look shows the rb floor is more complicated than the the Mercedes but whether other teams can copy it from these photos and stay within the cost cap is difficult to say. I imagine team spies have been taking covert pics of every car but this type of shite is one of the biggest sources of intrigue and interest in F1

My son is planning to get his degree in mechanical engineering, with a focus on aerodynamics and performance automotive engineering. He was thrilled to see the undersides of those cars.

Jensen Button came in kind of late on an Alonso interview and asked him a question thar sums it up.

Why did y'all decide to pit that lap?

Which is the real question, going inters or hards is the dice roll, but why that lap when obviously he could have gone further. Max waited until the weather forced him to change, which seems like what Aston should have done as well.

Alonso just shrugged and walked off.

In the entire previous eras all the aero was visible, it didn’t matter. Sure there are some general concepts you can come up with by looking, but it’s a complex interdependent system. You cant simply make a floor pan similar and gain the speed. Such a non story.

The reason he hasn't won a race in 10 years is because he carries the same mentality.

Alonso is a winner. Nothing about Aston Martin says winner. Lance is Daddy's dead weight around the neck of the team , and should be shipped off to Indy Car.
