Got to watch the race with some Spaniards in Madrid. It’s been a fun week with all the green in a sea of white Real Madrid jerseys.

Checo’s contract expires after 2024. RBR is cutthroat, but Yuki doesn’t seem like a slam dunk yet to push him out.

Is Yuki gonna become less of a hot head by then?

I believe the only one that gets to get pissy on the radio at RBR is Max because he is a champion.

From our point of view, not at all a sure thing. However, what we do know is that over the first three races this year, Yuki has driven steadily to P11, P11, and P10 (almost P5 ) finishes. He isn't the wildly inconsistent driver he started out as. We saw in the last race that he was steady but holding up faster cars. The question is, is he driving a crappy car to its limit, like a Lando, or is he driving it below its potential? It's hard for us to tell with a rookie teammate. The team will have a better idea, and within the Red Bull family they've been mostly positive with their public comments over the last two plus years (somewhat surprisingly to me).

Right now, I would be more intrigued to see Albon back in the Red Bull seat.

How long will Max continue to race?

Max: I mean I love the driving bit. That's what I do best. I don't like everything else around it. I just keep saying to myself, "a few more years, a few more years"

I get that an F1 champ on a domminant run has no incentive to leave and do something else (e.g., Schumacher, Hamilton), but as someone who grew up marvelling at the diverse accomplishments of guys like Mario Andretti and AJ Foyt, I will always have a bigger regard for drivers who prove their skills in multiple racing disciplines. So I hope to see Max try other series and not just have a Hamilton-like career. He has expressed no serious interest that I've heard in anything else though. In modern racing there are very few guys like Mario anymore. In this regard, the two modern guys I admire the most as racers (even though I'm not a big fan of either ) are Fernando and JPM:

Fernando Alonso
F1 (2x champ)
WEC (champ)
Le Mans (2 wins)
24 hrs Daytona (1 win)
Indy 500 (2 starts)
Dakar rally

Juan Pablo Montoya
F1 (7 wins)
IndyCar (champ)
Indy 500 (2 wins)
24 hrs Daytona (3 wins)
IMSA (champ)
NASCAR (2 wins)

Under the proposal Fridays at sprint events would remain unchanged, with a single hour of practice and a standard qualifying session. However that qualifying session would decide the grid for Sunday’s grand prix instead of Saturday’s sprint race.

A new sprint race qualifying session would take place on Saturday morning instead of second practice. This would run to a three-part qualifying format much like those seen at regular events, albeit with shorter timings, the upshot of which is likely to mean drivers who reach Q3 only have time to perform a single lap.

Wouldn’t it be easier for them to just say they’re having 2 races at selected venues? A smaller value race then the grand finale. Could advertise as getting more bang for your ticket buck

Are you serious? He's 100% going to do the endurance race circuit. He does all the virtual ones. I bet before he's 30 or maybe even after 26 if RB don't make a competitive car, he takes a year off to run the endurance circuit.

“Even if you change the format, I don’t find that is in the DNA of Formula One to do these kind of sprint races,” he said. “I hope there won’t be too many changes, otherwise I won’t be around for too long.

“I am not a fan of it at all. When we do all that kind of stuff, the weekend becomes very intense and we already do a lot of races. But it is not the right way to go about it. I understand they want to make every at the track day exciting but they should reduce the weekend, and only race on Saturday and Sunday and make those two days exciting.”

he is def not a fan of the new format. dude might take a break for a few years and return.
