yes, there were.
refs swallowed their whistles anyways from about the 2nd period on, which benefited TB big time because their special teams have been dogshit all series.

There were, but Tampa wants everyone to not see that they had 7 on the ice as well lol. Also had a change with a guy coming on the ice with the guy he was replacing near center ice.
It was a good no call and a good example of letting players decide outcomes, not refs.

Lololol. The description on the Bolts podcast;
“Bobby Fenton looks back at last night's Lightning 3-2 OT loss in Game 4 to the Avalanche in which the game-winning goal had a too-many men on the ice penalty missed. He is joined by Joe Smith from The Athletic.”
It’s like they want us to pretend we’ve never watched hockey before. Or that by the end of that game they could hardly skate and the Avs we’re putting shots on them like it was raining. Let them stay salty and let’s have a big fricking parade in Denver next week. Oh those tears taste good.

This too many men thing is ridiculous, especially with picture evidence
If anything all the non calls in the third period benefit Tampa given their advantage at even strength over the past two games and then Avs took over in OT

Agreed. Not only that, but if this was the standard for too many men on the ice - hockey would be almost unwatchable. I don’t even want to think about how many of these would get called.

I think they get in done in Game 5 personally.
I would be shocked if Avs lose this game. I know they are pros, etc and it’s why you play the game, but the fatigue, crushing home loss seems like too much to overcome.
They were better for 4 periods. Avs took it to them the remaining 8 and OTs.

I always wondered how line changes are coordinated. And have watched many replays where a team has more than 5 players on the ice without a penalty called. But no one on the telecast or radio broadcast ever touches on how they are coordinated. Or what institutes an infraction. So I finally found this informative tidbit. And since the extra Avalanche player, and the 2 extra Lightning players in the photo you gave aren't pursuing the puck and are within 5 feet of their bench, it's not a penalty.
quote:
At issue was whether Nathan MacKinnon was close enough to the Avalanche bench to be considered a "retired player" when his teammate jumped on the ice and became engaged in the play. Skaters have to be within 5 feet of the bench and out of the play before a change is made.

Bolts take game 5 and 6, send a dagger through the hearts of the Colorado community with an eventual, historic win in game 7 to three peat!
Woohoo!!

I have had this on on repeat all day. No work is getting done on the Front Range this week.

But the best the Avs could do was take it to Denver tied up, what’s the need for a Game 7 or three straight Ws to win the Cup from the Lightning?

I’m a bolts fan and even I wish you’d shite the frick up.
Regarding the last play of the game, that’s not too many men on the ice. For either team. They only call that if the puck is in the vicinity. There is technically many many times throughout any given game that there are more than 5 on the ice during a change. Like someone said, if they called that every time it happened the damn game would take 7 hours.

Yep. Tampa was completely gassed.
Avs have another gear and a bigger tank.
