AM is terrible this year, at least Alpine has him consistently in the mid single places.

AM is dumping tons of Saudi money into facilities, equipment and engineering talent. I wouldn't be surprised to see them climbing the totem pole while Alpine treads water or falls back a bit.

Ha all the commentary I’m seeing from those outside the media is “why Alonso, why?”

Fred Alonso to Aston Martin for 2023.

As a freshly minted 39-year old, this proves i have another 4 years to earn a seat in F1

Was talking with the gf last night about driver moves for next season, and FA to Aston Martin was not remotely one of them. Wow.

Who's going to get that Alpine seat?

I hope it's Gasly.

I would be surprised if it’s not Piastri. I think Gasly will end up getting a seat at Mclaren before long.

I want it to be Gasly too, but the fact that Alpine hadn't made a greater effort to lock down Alonso made me think it has to be Piastri. Then I saw this article that says Alpine wanted Alonso to drive just one more year in F1 then drive Alpine's Le Mans entry in 2024!

It wasn't sourced news or anything like that, but a guy on the WTF1 podcast said he's calling it that Piastri to Alpine will be announced today.

Again, not something he's heard, just a guess he's making.

If I was forced to put money on it, I'd say Piastri.

Little behind here, but I just watched the Vettel retirement announcement.

I assume you bros already discussed about how it looked like a hostage video and how he was just oozing with personality in the video?

I enjoyed the fact that so many people were excited seb got instagram, amassed over a million followers quickly, and his only post was his retirement video.

First race this year that I missed and I forgot to record it. Although just by reading articles I'm sure I would have just been frustrated once again at Ferraris strategy. Those dude's can't get out of their own way. It's like a clown show each week.

If you have a streaming device you can log in to the ESPN app using your cable credentials and view full replays on demand. That's how I watch every race - I love F1, but not enough to wake up early.

Drivers like Alonso and Kimi are legendary as World Champions and for their enduring racecraft. Salute to them.

Gasly deserves a better seat than AT - he's proven he's quick.

Doubtful - he raced for them when they were called Renault. Haven't seen that, but rumors like that are peak Silly Season.
