Yes. In my mind the key is just be consistent so everyone knows the rules and is held accountable in the same way to them.
The trickiest calls to me are in the turns. The lines the cars are taking and the right of ways. The line between hard racing and breaking the agreed upon rules is very subjective. I know they try to put it in a worded definition type rule but it seems that there is always a twist when racing is going on.

I guess we could put a bunch of sausage kerbs and launch the cars, that sounds fun.
I have zero problem with launched cars.
Don't want to get air? Stay on the track.

Like I said, I agree with staying on the track. Don't want the 5 sec penalty, stay on the track.

He’s being dramatic… you could easily do the rough surface that the runoff is at Paul as the border that would slow them down for cutting corners.
Again, either hold them accountable every single time they do it in a race or don’t at all.

I think that is what they want to do, what they are trying to do. But not all tracks are advanced enough to allow them to do so yet.

Teamwork makes the dream work.

I’m watching archived races and I think the original F1 logo is far superior than the current logo. I also think they should have a throw back event once a year where the constructors bring back legendary cars and have the current guys do 5-7 lap “races” in them.

Odds on a Ferrari engine exploding tomorrow?
Giving it a 60% chance

Quali is coming on and I realized my little girl is conditioned to the F1 music. She ran and jumped on the couch with me to watch race cars.
How cool is that?
Great looking 1st 3-4 rows and then Sainz and Kmag trying to come up from the back. We may actually get an interesting race out of this track tomorrow.

Word circulating that this is the last French GP for a while. Won't make the calendat for 2023.

Not surprising but disappointing from the standpoint of not having a French GP. I won't miss this track at all though. I wish they could work something out with Magny-Cours but that's probably only barely big enough anyway.

Heard a podcast talking about a new track in Nice that is making a push.
Liberty seems set on desert races and crap street tracks for expansion. They want the spectacle instead of the good race these days.

I know this isn’t a fresh take, but as someone who mostly stopped watching NASCAR and is pretty new to F1, it feels like Liberty is repeating their mistake going away from traditional tracks and locations.
The street circuits just aren’t as fun to watch and the newness will wear off at Miami, Vegas, etc.

FYI. A Ferrari win tomorrow means Obtuse1 has served his penance and will return to the thread.

You seem to be 100% correct. Milking this investment for everything it is worth then will walk away while it burns.
If the series loses it's luster these new tracks will all disappear because the investment will disappear. Which just means a return to the classics.

The British fans say Americans are ruining F1. I'm beginning to believe them

I'm calling BS. The trend of going away from traditional tracks and chasing the money to dictatorships in shitty locations was started by Bernie. He increased the value of F1 exponentially. Now any company that buys F1 has no choice but to chase the money at the expense of the traditions, the racing, and the fans. It's 100% Bernie's fault.
