I'm going to opine Haas was on race fuel loads and that's the story I'm sticking to.
Kevin is sick and Mick is just getting back on the horse so I expect things to crank up over the weekend. The car is not that slow.

Highlight of FP1 was Leclerc doing a practice start right into the gravel.
Looks like everyone is scrubbing tires now

The four-time world champion waved to fans as he rode around, and had his F1 helmet placed on top of his head. He also momentarily took both hands off the handlebars of the moped.
But soon after Vettel had returned, race control announced that Vettel was under investigation for entering the track without permission.
It puts Vettel at risk of punishment from the FIA, with a hearing at race control with the stewards likely to take place ahead of second practice later this evening in Melbourne.

Not sure if I should start a new thread for this or not, but I’m considering getting the f1 tv pro subscription for the season. This is my first season following the sport and it Looks like a badass way to watch a race.
My question to y’all who have been following forever is what past races should I watch from their archive?

Interesting that they are running the C5-C3-C2 tyres this weekend.
How often do they skip a step?
Crofty said at the beginning of FP2 that the last time they skipped a step was Russia in 2017.

Merc still underperforming… going to be a long year for them and I’m not unhappy about it.

Translated from AMuS;
Why was Haas so weak?
There are many question marks at Haas. The US Ferrari, which trumped so much in the first two Grands Prix, was suddenly at the end of the field together with Williams. what happened there? "We can't get the balance right. In some corners, the rear end is extremely nervous when turning in," complained the drivers after the first practice session.
In the afternoon things went a little better. Kevin Magnussen's long run on the hard tires gave the engineers the feeling that they were slowly coming back to form. With plenty of fuel on board, the driving behavior of the US racers calmed down. Both Haas were also unusually slow on the straights. "Maybe we drove less power than the competition," hopes team manager Guenther Steiner.
The drivers also have to set lap times. Magnussen had caught a severe stomach upset and had not slept the night before the first day of training. The Dane arrived in the paddock pale 40 minutes before the start of practice and was sent back to the hotel right after the second session. He skipped the press conference and driver briefing.
Mick Schumacher lost eight tenths to his teammates. The engineers suspected a problem with the rear axle on his car. The entire rear had to be disassembled for the check.
The Krauts calling it the "US Ferrari" makes me chuckle a bit.

I feel the extras, and the ability to watch a race with all those extras any time you want, is well worth the ten bucks a month. I watch the race live on TV while having either the data or in cars going on my laptop. You can chose any of the 20 drivers in car cams which also includes team coms.
I haven't really dug into the archives much yet, but the old races, meaning way back in the earlier stuff they have, are not complete races. Still nice to have available though.
They also have their own pre race and qualifying shows and post race interviews. I think it's a great deal just for the current races with the other stuff a nice bonus.

I like it for races for the live timing. I'll have the race on my tv and a tablet running the timing chart. I also like the archive. I watched a lot in high school and college, but I missed a lot races between 07 to 19 when I mostly stopped watching for a while, so I'm using non-race weekends to go through the archive and catch up.

Man I hope Haas gets their act together in time for qualy.
Not to jinx anything, but when I think Autralian GP and Haas, I think of the 2018 debacle.

Not 100% sure which older races have the full race in the archive but most of these will:
Title deciders:
Brazil 2008
Adelaide 1986
Suzuka 1989
Fuji 1976
Jerez 1997
Abu Dhabi 2010
Brazil 2007
Brazil 2012
Just quality
Azerbaijan 2017
Canada 2011
Australia 1994
Japan 2005
Japan 1988
Germany 1994
Italy 2020
Monaco 1996
Belgium 1998
Mexico 1990
Some of my favorites with a Ferrari and/or Schumacher bent
Spain 1996
Belgium 1995
France 2004
China 2006
Hungary 1998
European 1995
Spain 1994 (stuck in 5th gear race)
Belgium 1992
Brazil 2006
US 2003
Senna/Prost
Canada 1988
France 1988
Hungary 1988
Japan 1988
Monaco 1988 and 1989
Senna
Portugal 1985
European 1993
Brazil 1991
Japan 1988
Monaco 1994
Japan 1989
Britain 1988
Spain 1986
Prost
Netherlands 1981
Australia 1986
Japan 1987
Donington Park 1993
Mexico 1990
These tend to trend a little older if you want some from the 2010s or good drives from specific drivers let me know.
If you want to be really bored watch the 2005 US GP, there is one thrilling moment in the entire race, seriously just one, and it is with one driver coming down the front straight and another coming out of pit lane.

Vettel's scooter ride cost him $5k euros. That's some serious surge pricing, guess it is to be expected during an F1 weekend.
Posted on 4/8/22 at 4:20 pm to Obtuse1
I saw some math that said it was something like $8 if you scale it to his salary and compare it to the median US income. seems worth it to me
