The Padres have acquired one of the most sought-after players on the trade market, as ESPN.com’s Jeff Passan (Twitter link) reports that San Diego has picked up second baseman Adam Frazier in a swap with the Pirates. Three players are headed to Pittsburgh in the deal, as per FanSided’s Robert Murray, with The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal and Dennis Lin reporting that utilityman Tucupita Marcano and outfielder Jack Suwinski are two of the players involved in the return. Right-hander Michell Miliano is the third player, ESPN.com’s Kiley McDaniel reports (via Twitter). The Padres are getting both Frazier and some cash considerations back from the Bucs, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune tweets.

Hosmer’s playing time is about to decline.

Tucupita Marcano and Jake Suwinski among players headed from Padres to Pirates for Adam Frazier if deal is completed, sources tell me and
@Dennistlin
. In medical review stage.

The third player going to the Pirates, as reported by

, is RHP Michell Miliano, 21, who is in Class A.
The Pirates also sent the Padres $1.4 million. Marcano is the Padres #5 prospect according to MLB.com. Suwinski and Miliano aren't in the Padres top 30 prospects. None of them are among MLB.coms top 100 prospects.
So the Padres got 2.5 years of an All Star 2nd baseman leading the NL in hits + $1.4 million without giving up a top 100 prospect.

Yeah this seems like a terrible return

The Pirates are the Big 12 of MLB.

Pirates what are you doing baby

I want to belive its a buyers market but I'm more inclined to believe the Pirates are just some dumbasses.
How was the Twins return for Cruz? Though the package for a 40 year old free agent to be DH probably isn't comparable but he was one of the more valued hitters avaliable.
Same for Frazier. Maybe even more so than Cruz given his price and team control. If that sets the market for hitters...gimme Starling Marte.

Twins return for Cruz was fine. This one feels way off

Pirates just had a great draft. Things seemed to be looking up.

I think their other rebuilding deals have largely been fine or good in some cases. This one is weird

Maybe Houston can get Richard Rodriguez for a couple rookie ball players because obviously Pittsburgh doesn’t require much of a return.

The Mariners are making a push to trade for INF/OF Whit Merrifield of the Royals, sources tell me and @DKramer_. Merrifield is under control through 2023 at a reasonable cost (approx. $10M over 2 years incl. ‘23 option) and offers positional versatility, a good bat & great speed.

Tucupita Marcano, 2B, was the key guy in deal for Pirates. He was the one we wanted. Ranked No. 5 in Padres system — and was not available during talks this off-lseason in Musgrove deal. Jack Suwinski and Michell Miliano the others going to Pitts. Strong return.

Announce Scherzer to the dodgers

Apparently the Mets are going to see if Nats will trade to a division rival..I doubt it happens

ESPN's Buster Olney said during Sunday night's telecast of the White Sox-Brewers matchup that he thinks the Mets may very well end up with one of the Cubs' star trade chips before Friday's Trade Deadline.
"I think the Mets are going to wind up with one of three guys: Kris Bryant or Trevor Story or Javier Báez," he said.

The Mets are also in the market for a starting pitcher to bolster the rotation for the stretch run, and SNY reports that they will check in with the Nationals about three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer. Would Washington trade the star right-hander to a division rival? It appears the Mets are going to try and find out.

Gammons saying in a weird, roundabout way that the Nats might dangle Trea Turner.
The return would be absolutely epic if they did that.

They should. Why not listen on any player? You never know what might happen.
