its about that time for everyones favorite thread of the summer. time to predict buyers/sellers, argue trade values, and laugh at the insane stuff that the mets and dipoto are going to inevitably do
will update thread as moves are made. probably another two weeks or so until things get popping in earnest

Dame to the Lakers for Kuzma and KCP.

Donaldson to the Mets
I wonder who lands Escobar?

nats are the biggest wildcard. they have the biggest chips but they have a history of buying or at least not selling. they are 6 back now from the wild card. if they have another bad two weeks they can be putting a lot onto the market

The Astros are coming for your budget relievers.

Cubs as well. Looked like buyers a week or so ago but there could be some big time rentals available if they keep sliding.
Even if the Nats “sell” I think Scherzer and Schwarber are the only guys they’d consider getting rid of

Reds should go after bullpen and SS

That's a lock.

the 4 games vs Brewers before the break could determine which direction they go

Will be interesting to see where he goes. I think it’s a lock he goes somewhere that doesn’t have a hole at SS at this point since every contender looks good there and I don’t see Oakland spending on him. Chicago was rumored to be on him this weekend, Brewers or Mets could make sense. If the Yankees get hot they’re an obvious fit

Kyle Gibson with his sub 2.00 ERA will definitely be on the move if I had to guess.
I also expect Texas to listen to offers for Gallo, but it would have to be a lot for anyone to get him.

We’ve got an abundance of starters.
Valdez
Greinke
McCullers
Odorizzi
Garcia
Urquidy
Javier
That’s 7 guys. A playoff rotation is only 4 guys, which means 3 of those guys will be in the bullpen.

Yes, they do. Having a true 8th inning guy will help before the playoffs and during.
And even if you tandem the starters, you want someone who can at least come in to the middle of the game to handle high leverage when you go from one starter to the next. Right now, no one fits that description. It's Pressly and prayer.

Why is Will Harris not there anymore????

Even if all 7 of those starters stay healthy they’ve got one playoff caliber bullpen arm to fill the other 6 spots. They need multiple relievers IMO

hile you are correct, we still need 1-2 veterans relievers that can pitch the 7th/8th innings who won't get rattled and get you out of any situation.
Also some things interesting to me:
1) A lot of teams selling/maybe selling with a lot to offer: Yankees, Cubs, Nationals, D'backs, Rockies, Twins, Rangers, Cardinals.
2) Interested to see where Story goes: Reds, A's, Brewers, Mets (if they put him at 3rd or 2nd) I can see as interested.
Should be a good trade deadline IMO.
