'science'

Speaking of science, apparently, the French press is looking at climbing times and have some questions about the Slovenians. They just need to accept the French have sucked at doping for a long time. They just need to get their shite together. As long as riders can piss and bleed clean on some protocol there will be doping in cycling.

Plus he was riding 60mm Shimano wheels. I noticed in the leading group of five (at the line) Bernal, Landa and Hirschi all had deep-section rims, Pogacar and Roglic both had more conventional mountain stage rims.

ETA Johan Bruyneel (on The Move) was complaining about the crowds in the mountains screaming in the riders faces and is convinced if a rider has COVID tomorrow it is the result of fans.

Well it sure won't cause them to test positive TOMORROW lmao. I was happy a f to see the insane obnoxious mountain Frenchies..felt like normalcy to a much smaller degree (obviously).
BUT I imagine the riders and staff weren't happy at all. Hell, If I was EVER a rider I'd hate them in every year OTHER than this in addition to this year.
Way less people, no smoke bombs or fireworks this year but still attention whores thinking they are helping haha..what other fans are allowed this close? Again, still made me smile a few times bc it felt "normal".

I'm sure there will be some positive tests but it won't be from today or yesterday's mountain stages. France has had a resurgence.
As for your initial comment in your post, I have stated before that I can't wait to read a decade from now how they are doping legally now. Yet, again as I will always say and defend, these are the greatest athletes in the world and it isn't particularly close....

Updated my OP with some week 1 thoughts and debrief.
Hope some of you have enjoyed the updates and are sticking with the thread. 2020 ...sheesh..

test positive

Something just hit me. I wonder if the teams with the budget are doing COVID fast tests every day. If a swanier, chef, mechanic or a rider tests positive just send them home. I doubt they test a rider that abandons on his way out of the bubble. Despite losing support staff or even a rider it might work to keep your team in the Tour and the Tour alive.

Pog has destroyed climbing records on two pretty well known climbs two days in a row. Dude is either on some new designer shite or will be one of the all time greats.

Such a perfect ride (save maybe going too soon on the sprint). All that singular effort and incredible descending to end up getting caught up in a GC battle.

I started two days behind, but now I'm caught up.

This has been an entertaining race so far, and I suspect it will continue.

I don't claim to know a lot about this sport, but I love watching it and will comment after I watch it in the evening. My schedule is too busy to watch it live.

When will you post the updates about the race? As soon as it finishes or hours later. Thanks

I had been waiting 24 hours, but that really made no sense to most. So I now usually update the OP in the afternoon or early evening the day of.
The stages usually conclude around 1200-1300 eastern.
Welcome. Anything can happen in the next 15 days on the Tour...if it goes to the end

I am betting it is neg enough that the Tour goes on. In reference to my post earlier about teams testing on their own one of the TdF vlogs I watched on YT tonight said that Ineos has been testing but offered a different reason than mine as to why they may be doing it. I still think any smart team has been testing and especially if a wrench monkey or swanier came up positive they quietly send them out of the bubble. There is no way if I am the director sportif that I am letting me team get kicked off the Tour if the team members would have tested pos on Sunday. If 2 or more people test positive on Monday its because they didn't fast test positive on Sunday when we did it as a team.

This all assume the ASO doesn't have something in place to test people leaving the bubble, but I doubt they do.

I've been thinking the same thing. It seems there is a lot of young talent.

Several large crashes already today w/ injuries and abandonment by at least 1 rider so far. Bibs and jerseys of lots of riders ripped to shreds
