I don’t know why Speith chased distance, that shite never works out, it always ruins the player.
Like when Kymer spent a year and tried to hit a draw, it basically ruined his game for a few years.

Personally, I think he felt behind playing with his contemporaries (JT, Rickie, etc.) and probably hated being 20-30 yards behind them every shot. When i reality he could stack up wins only driving 280-290 and hitting it straight. If he wanted to drive it further, he should have put on 20 pounds.

I think the pressure got to him. He was the Tour’s biggest draw outside of Tiger and Phil. Probably not as easy to play well consistently when everyone expects you to do so.

When the 20+ ft putts stop dropping- the wins go away- when driver/long iron game is average at best..
He had the most ridiculous year and a half of putting stats I’ve ever seen...he’s a great putter, but not that great..regression was expected...we made a ton of money fading him for a year and a half...can’t do it anymore. Odds shifted/the public has finally figured out his lucky run is over
