Could this have been handled any worse?

Do you ever worry that Dallas has been run terribly since Cuban got there though? Dirk is one of the best players ever, and they didn't surround him with the right talent quite often. Not hanging on to Nash? I'm just not sure Cuban is very good at this.
Wah?

They're in the playoffs every year and have a championship

Did you see that franchise before he got there?

That's why you never take a paycut as a player.

Ever.

The owners didn't get to their billions by leaving money on the table

Not to mention that only a handful of teams have even won a championship in the last 20-30 years. The Mavs did pretty good, IMO.

Clearly, he knows how to market them. And he hasn't been terrible. But Jerry Jones looked good with great players too. I'm think Cuban post-Dirk could look a lot worse.

He may not be great, but I think 90% of NBA fans would be ecstatic with one championship and another finals appearance over a 15 year period. And even though Dallas is a large market, it's not a destination market like LA and New York.

Yeah. I'm really just spit balling here. I hate the Mavs a ton, so I'm sure I'm biased.

Jordan staying with the Clippers is bad for my Pels, but it may end up being worth it:

Safest prediction in the NBA right now: The moratorium period will never be the same. Change surely coming because endless fallout awaits

We'll see. Lots of teams take a dip when a star leaves. But that was one of the 2 or 3 worst franchises in the league before he got there. Now they're a model of consistency

Yup. But landing Dirk was huge. And Carlisle kind of fell into his lap. I don't think it's that crazy to think Cuban has been very fortunate since taking over the team.

disagree. Mavs now probably won't make playoffs, unless they get Hibbert but that would come at a price. Clips were probably gonna make it anyway

Clippers have been led to believe DeAndre Jordan will re-sign with them once the clock strikes midnight, league source confirms.

Unreal.
