ESPN had the camera angled so you could see right up the promised land. They didn't even cut away from the shot either. They just kept it there

Played against one of these kids as well. He wasn't a great pitcher, he just hit puberty earlier than most of us did and was a LOT bigger than the rest of us when we were all 12-13.

I threw a semi-side-armed fastball around 80 at 12. Didnt have any other pitches, and got tendonitis and quit baseball at 15.

Chinese Taipei was banned from Little League for 20 years for trotting out adults in the 70s and 80s.

You think they're self-reporting now?

LL doesn't have the resources, jurisdiction to investigate or means to follow through with age verification in foreign lands.

That take pride in not knowing how old their child is. Sad that something so pure has been used like the Olympics as a cheating platform for National pride to some countries.

Saw this a couple of times too. The guys who were throwing serious heat in 11th/12th grade weren't the guys that hit puberty at 10 and were gassing people in middle school. They developed on a normal schedule.

Was the tendonitis due to baseball or whacking the weasel to Jessica Mendoza's panties?

FTR all of you screaming about Tommy John, throwing hard early is not why this happens. sound stupid when you scream that.

and the kid is huge, 100% tanner stage 4.

why? the slider puts less stress on the elbow valgus than the fast ball does.

so many of you have no clue and just scream....no curves...no throwing hard...no this, no that.

if you dont have a clue and just are repeating things you heard then stfu

Why? They likely won’t get TJ at that age, just little league shoulder/elbow. They’re not gonna make the league anyway so why not do it and have fun?

I haven't watched the LLWS since the Danny Almonte scandal.

quote:

Danny Almonte Rojas (born April 7, 1987) is a Dominican-American former baseball player who is currently an assistant baseball coach at Cardinal Hayes High School in New York City. Born in Moca in the Dominican Republic, Almonte was a Little League pitcher who threw up to 79 miles per hour (127 km/h). Considered a phenomenon as he led his Bronx team to a third-place finish in the 2001 Little League World Series, Almonte was revealed to have actually been two years too old to play Little League baseball. Although there were many allegations during the 2001 Series, the truth was not revealed until weeks later.

Bad mechanics and genetics causes arm problems, not pitch selection

I played baseball from like 7-18 and had to deal with panic attacks induced in the batters box at times showing my junior year of highsxhool going from one of the best hitters to worst till I solved that. Point is we played Savannah Christian that year and one kid through 95 at 18. If you’ve never seen that coming it’s literally unexplainable

Yeah the kids supposed common knowledge like “no breaking balls before 14” has absolutely nothing to support it and even has a small amount that says it’s neutral at worst and even detrimental perhaps to wait that long. Really wish that “common wisdom” would die

If I had to take a guess what the cause for explosions in TJ is baseball at this point if you want to be one of the best and have that goal is a 365 day a year sport there’s no off season from the start of like age 7

I wonder how much research things like inning limits, etc, things like this alll intended to avoid injury actually can make it more likely or worse. Someone should probably check it out if they haven’t

overuse certainly doesnt help but main cause is the average kid is walking around with way less muscle mass and strength than previous generations.

UCL can only take about 35 nm of force. Every hard throw even at 7, takes more force. the forces are dispersed through out the muscles of the forearm and the upper arm. Have to have the muscularity to handle that. most dont.

also kids get worse sleep and nutrition than previous generations which impacts recovery big time.

Other huge problem is being under prepared for the demands through shitastic on ramps. its why you see most of the injuries happen right before are at the start of the season for the most part.

kinds/teens take long periods off thinking they are helping their bodies, only thing is they dont give themselves long enough to get back up to speed and build to the demands being on the mound takes.
